JAMMU: Police in Jammu District asserted that by apprehending two locals and two residents of Uttar Pradesh, all 11 unsolved cases of chain snatching that had been filed within the jurisdiction of the Jammu South and Jammu North sectors, respectively, had been conclusively resolved. These arrests, according to SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli, were the result of thorough operations carried out by the hardworking police teams of many police stations.He claimed that the chain theft binge, which had affected Jammu South neighbourhoods such as Sainik Colony, Greater Kailash, Satwari, Trikuta Nagar, and Gangyal, had a particular pattern that had the police investigating the chain snatching incidents interested. He claimed that special teams were stationed in several locations and that they examined CCTV footage, paying close attention to the snatchers’ motorcycles in particular. The arrest of the snatchers at Trikuta Nagar, where they had earlier stolen a chain from a woman before being cornered and apprehended, marked the beginning of the end for the thieves, according to him. The accused, who were allegedly responsible for five further thefts, were named as Dharminder Kumar and Ram Sevak and were natives of Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, according to the police officer. Further questioning of the suspects revealed, he continued, that they had hidden the stolen gold chains in Samba in preparation for sale in Delhi. These chains have been found thanks to quick action, and the rightful owners will soon be reunited with their priceless decorations, he said. In addition, the SSP Jammu questioned the involvement of the chain snatchers in other states, including as Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, where they were allegedly active for the previous four years.The SSP Jammu stated that efforts were being made to work with other state police departments in order to identify and recover any ornaments that may have been stolen. Five incidences of chain theft were reported in Jammu North, according to the SSP Jammu, and they occurred in Canal Road, Roop Nagar, Janipur, and Paloura. He claimed that two people named Akash and Rahul from Trikuta Nagar in Jammu were detained there by a squad from Police Station Janipur. “These people said they were responsible for five chain snatching cases and that they had sold the stolen gold to Muthoot Finance. If their involvement in these operations is proven, legal action against Muthoot Finance corporate executives is being contemplated, according to the SSP Jammu.The police give the community’s installed CCTV cameras credit for the crucial part they played in these successful operations.
