NEW DELHI : The SC postponed hearing on a petition on Thursday asking for instructions to be given to the government and Election Commission on the holding of early assembly elections in J&K.A bench made up of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justices P S Narasimha and Manoj Misra noted that the 11th of July had been set aside for hearings on applications contesting the repeal of Article 370. “This will take more time.According to the bench, directives on the 370 matter are scheduled for July 11.The petitioners’ attorney said that because the individuals had been denied the right to vote, this was a special case and urged the top court to take notice. However, the bench declined to provide notice and put the matter on hold. Manju Singh and Harsh Dev Singh, leaders of the National Panthers Party (JKNPP), have petitioned the Supreme Court, asking it to order the Election Commission of India to hold elections in the union territory without further delay.
