NEW DELHI: United Kingdom On Sunday, Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty prayed at Delhi’s Akshardham Temple. Sunak, who is in the city on business for the G20 Summit, and his wife Akshata arrived at the Akshardham Temple early today to pray before going to Rajghat. Akshata was pictured inside the temple grounds wearing a traditional salwar kurta, while Sunak was also in bare feet. The BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple said in a statement that when PM Sunak and his convoy arrived at 6.45 am, they were cordially welcomed in a customary Hindu manner signifying friendliness and friendship.Swamis and senior members of the Temple then welcomed Sunak and gave him a special message on behalf of Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual head of the BAPS. According to the temple officials, the spiritual head sent Sunak and the other delegates his best wishes and prayers on their behalf. The statement from Mahant Swami Maharaj, spiritual head of BAPS, said, “In the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, we pray for you and all the attendees: May the summit be a resounding success in collectively helping the whole world towards peace, righteous prosperity, and global harmony.” According to the statement, the UK Prime Minister was given a tour of the 100-acre spiritual and cultural complex that showcases Indian customs and historic buildings while also promoting the ageless Hindu spiritual teachings of faith, devotion, and harmony. Sunak and his wife visited the to pay their respects to the holy statues and to take in the architecture and artwork. According to the BAPS, the pair also gave the murti of Shri Nilkanth Varni Maharaj an abhishek (ritual water pouring) and prayed for world peace, advancement, and harmony.
