NEW DELHI: On the occasion of National Girl Child Day on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the unwavering spirit and achievements of the "Girl Child" and stated that they are the "change-maker." "We honour the achievements and unwavering spirit of the girl child on National Girl Child Day. We also acknowledge each girl child's enormous potential in all fields. The Prime Minister wrote on 'X' that "they are change-makers who improve our country and society." "Over the last decade, our government has been making many efforts to build a nation where every girl child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive," he stated. Since 2008, the nation has commemorated National Girl Child Day annually. The project aims to address the difficulties that girls have as a result of gender stereotypes. The day also seeks to change how society views females and offers a platform for bringing attention to the injustices they experience. It also aims to raise girls' understanding of their rights, nutrition, education, and health. The Ministry of Women and Child has asked all States and Union Territories to hold a five-day special campaign that is specifically intended for public involvement up to the grassroots level in order to raise awareness and promote a participative spirit. By hosting a national-level event on its grounds, the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) is participating in this campaign as well.This event uses a painting competition with the topic "Mere Viksit Bharat Ka Sapna" to spark the imaginative creativity of children from Child Care Institutions (CCIs) in Delhi. Via a cultural programme in line with the campaign theme, the kids from CCIs will also be contributing. It also includes a nationally and internationally acclaimed unicycle performance by kids from Bangalore's Shishu Mandir (organised by Boeing India). An oath-taking ceremony to swear against all forms of gender-based discrimination will mark the event's conclusion. Union Minister Smriti Irani and State Minister Munjpara Mahendrabhai will be present at this occasion, and they will give speeches congratulating and motivating the attendees. It is expected that between 250 and 300 people participate in these activities. After long dry spell, weatherman predicts snowfall in J&K

SRINAGAR: The MeT department predicted that the extended dry period would likely come to an end this weekend, despite the fact that Kashmir and Jammu saw below-average temperatures on Wednesday due to an extreme dry cold. Farooq, Omar leave for Saudi Arabia for Umrah

JKP to conduct anti-sabotage check at railway stations

JAMMU: An anti-sabotage inspection of railway assets will be carried out by the Jammu and Kashmir police as part of a significant security stepped-up in advance of the Republic Day celebrations here. At a security review meeting held here this evening, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Railways Sunil Kumar issued these directives. A spokesman for the ADGP instructed all police to make sure that security devices and sniffer dogs are used to conduct anti-sabotage checks of railway stations, tracks and surrounding areas. He demanded that the overall security configuration of all the railway routes and stations in Jammu and Katra be strengthened. The ADGP obtained the required input from local General Railway Police personnel as well as a new security evaluation of the measures that had been taken. He emphasised that in order to quickly disseminate crucial and essential information, communication networks need to be expanded, made more active, and made more efficient. Upon concluding the discussions, the ADGP urged the officers to have close communication with other police wings and sister intelligence organisations in order to prevent any unfortunate incidents. Security situation under control; infiltration a challenge: J&K DGP

SRINAGAR: Director General of Police R R Swain stated on Tuesday that although cross-border infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir continues to be a concern for the forces, the security situation is under control. "There is control over the security situation. Law and order is the most important component of security, and we believe we have managed public order on the highways, etc.," Swain told reporters at a public grievance redressal programme at Awantipora in the Pulwama region of south Kashmir. According to the DGP, security forces face difficulties dealing with cross-border infiltration. "Yes, the fact that some terrorists are entering from the outside presents a problem for us. They are entering and attempting to destroy the environment here with a few others.It is a difficulty, but we view it from various angles. We observe that fewer of our own boys are joining them, or none of them are. They can have a little following, but the general public does not. When we assert that we are in charge of the security (situation), we have that in mind," Swain continued. "About 90% of the root and origin of the problem is outside," the J&K police chief responded when asked about targeted attacks in the Union Territory. "A Pakistani who is sitting outside and is not from Jammu and Kashmir comes here in some way, perhaps via tunnel digging or infiltration, and then fights us. It presents a challenge. This presents a challenge even though their numbers have decreased. There is a problem with cross-border infiltration in Poonch-Rajouri and to some extent here as well. When things progressively become better, we'll be able to take control of it. We also hope that the people would turn them over to us," he stated. In south Kashmir, it was the DGP's first Public Grievances Redressal Programme. In addition to the Jammu region, he has spoken at such sessions in Kupwara and Srinagar in north Kashmir. Many participants in the workshop brought up various concerns, including robberies, domestic abuse, and land conflicts. BARASAT (WB), Jan 23: In a focus on the need for group responsibility to strive towards fulfilling Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's vision of creating a strong nation, RSS president Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday urged people to embrace the traits and teachings of the late leader. At an RSS event in the North 24 Parganas region of West Bengal to commemorate Bose's 127th birthday, Bhagwat stated that it was not enough to only remember Netaji on this day. He stated at Barasat, "We should remember Netaji not only to ensure that we internalise his qualities, ideals, and principles but also out of gratitude for his invaluable contributions to the freedom struggle." Whose job is it to fulfil his dreams if they haven't been realised yet? It will only be fulfilled if he observes that the current generation is striving to achieve it, according to Bhagwat. Netaji's dreams must be aggressively pursued by the current generation, according to the head of the RSS. He was aware that these hopes would not be realised in a single generation. Generations following him will need to continue working on it. As he desired, we must try to fulfil his dream of India, added Bhagwat. Bhagwat emphasised the independence fighters' importance as a source of inspiration for the general public and the lasting influence of their noble lives, efforts, and sacrifices.
