Cong In ‘Striking Distance’ Of BJP In Terms Of Vote Share: Ramesh On Assembly Poll Results

New Delhi, Dec 4: The Congress claimed on Monday that although its results in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh were disappointing, on the basis of vote share, it was still "striking distance" behind the BJP. Jairam Ramesh, general secretary of the Congress, stated that the party's strong vote percentage in these states is cause for optimism and rebirth. "The Indian National Congress did not perform as well as we had hoped in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. However, the vote shares show that the Congress is not far behind the BJP, in fact, it is within striking distance." This is the cause for optimism and rebirth, according to a post made by Ramesh on X.Giving specifics, he stated that the Congress had a 42.2 percent vote share in Chhattisgarh compared to the BJP's 46.3 percent. He said that in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress had a 40.4 percent vote share and the BJP 48.6 percent. According to Ramesh, the Congress received 39.5 percent of the vote in Rajasthan, compared to 41.7 percent for the BJP. Additionally, he shared the opposition group INDIA's slogan, "Judega Bharat, Jeetega INDIA," which aims to oppose the BJP together in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on X.The BJP tightened its grip over the Hindi heartland on Sunday by sweeping Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh and handily defeating the Congress. 2 Pilots Killed In IAF Trainer Aircraft Accident Near Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Dec 4: According to the authorities, an Indian Air Force trainer plane carrying two officers crashed early on Monday in Telangana's Medak district. They added that a trainer and a trainee pilot were inside the aircraft when it crashed, and that the event happened in the Toopran mandal of the region. In the collision, both perished. Rajnath Singh, the minister of defence, expressed his distress over the occurrence by writing, "Anguished by this accident near Hyderabad." The deaths of the two pilots are really tragic. My sympathies are with the grieving families during this awful hour.According to a senior police official, the aircraft took off from the Air Force Academy (AFA) at Dundigal, which is close by. "One Pilatus PC 7 Mk Il trainer aircraft met with an accident today morning during a routine training sortie from AFA, Hyderabad," the IAF said earlier in a statement. "The lAF confirms with great regret that both of the pilots on board suffered tragic injuries.There have been no reports of property or civil life damage. Night temp plummets further in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: In Kashmir, the nighttime temperature has decreased even more as several locations saw temperatures below freezing. Pahalgam had the lowest temperature, according to local meteorological department officials, at minus 3.4 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the temperature dropped below freezing in a number of locations, including Qazigund, Kupwara, and Gulmarg. Kokernag reported a low of 0.8 degree Celsius, while Kupwara recorded - 2.5 degree Celsius. Hope result will be better for opposition in 2024 LS polls: Mehbooba Mufti

SRINAGAR: Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the PDP, voiced optimism on Sunday that the opposition parties will fare better in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, given that the BJP looked to be headed for victory in three of the four states that just held elections. Speaking to reporters outside of a party conference in Kupwara, almost 100 kilometres away, Mufti stated that in the Assembly elections, the opposition parties would be up against the strength of the government, which included its investigative agencies, financial clout, and the Election Commission. "I sincerely hope that the opposition receives better results than these elections in the Lok Sabha polls in 2024," stated Mufti, the former chief minister of the state that was then known as Jammu and Kashmir."The power of the government, its agencies, money, and the Election Commission are on the one side when elections are held today," she remarked. The Election Commission released trends showing that the BJP was in the lead in 155 of the 230 Madhya Pradesh seats, 54 of the 90 Chhattisgarh seats, and 111 of the 199 Rajasthan seats. Mufti stated she had travelled to Kupwara to address the issues of the populace and declined to comment on the postponement of the elections in Jammu & Kashmir. "I had come here to hear about the people's issues and sufferings." When questioned about the postponement of the polls, she responded, "We will talk about elections another time." She also disputed rumours that the People's coalition for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) was divided among its members, claiming that the coalition was robust.
