Over 4,600 pilgrims leave Jammu for Amarnath Yatra

JAMMU: On Thursday morning, A batch of more than 4,600 Amarnath pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here amid tight security.Since the yearly pilgrimage began on July 1, up to 2.90 lakh worshippers have made their way to the Amarnath shrine to offer their respects. A total of 4,675 pilgrims departed for the twin base camps in Kashmir in a convoy of 169 cars in order to continue their trip to the 3,880-meter-high cave temple of Lord Shiva. According to officials, at 3.30 am and 3.45 am, respectively, a convoy of 106 cars carrying 2,850 pilgrims left for Pahalgam, and a convoy of 63 vehicles carrying 1,825 pilgrims left for the Baltal base camp. Beginning on July 1 from the twin roads of Pahalgam in the Anantnag district and Baltal in the Ganderbal district, the 62-day annual pilgrimage to the 3,888-meter-high cave sanctuary began. On August 31, the yatra is supposed to come to an end.
