SRINAGAR, Feb 9: Due to a bright night sky, Kashmir saw extreme cold on Friday, with the minimum temperature in Jammu division remaining below average. According to a release from the Meteorological (MeT) Department, the minimum temperature was minus 4.8 in Srinagar, minus 9 in Gulmarg, and minus 10.3 in Pahalgam. The lowest temperature in the Ladakh region was minus 16.1 in Leh town and minus 19.8 in Kargil. At 2 in Banihal, Bhaderwah minus 1.6, Katra 5.8, Batote 3.3, and Jammu city’s 5.3 was the lowest temperature of the night. Since the MeT office has predicted dry weather with clear skies through February 14th, the extreme cold is probably going to linger for at least an additional four to five days.
