SRINAGAR: The NIA on Tuesday conducted searches at five locations in South Kashmir in a terror conspiracy case. The NIA also conducted 13 further searches in the Jammu and Kashmir districts of Budgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Srinagar, and Anantnag in May of this year in connection with a case involving the emergence of a terrorist conspiracy both physically and virtually. Sticky bombs, improvised explosive devices (IED), and small guns were to be used in horrific terrorist assaults in Jammu and Kashmir, according to the NIA, which first reported the case last year. The agency had previously stated that the intentions were a part of a bigger plot by these terrorist organisations to carry out acts of terror and violence in Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with local youth and overground personnel in order to disturb peace and cause communal unrest. In connection with a terror-related investigation that the agency lodged last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) earlier on June 26 began conducting searches at several sites in Jammu and Kashmir, according to officials. A specialised law enforcement agency that combats terrorism is called NIA. The agency has the ability to undertake the investigation of terrorism-related offences across states pursuant to a signed order from the Ministry of Home Affairs, without the necessity for specific approval from states.
