NEW DELHI, Aug 21 : On Monday, Giriraj Singh, the minister for rural development, called for improved communication between village, block, and district panchayats and urged local officials to ensure that sustainable development objectives are reached.
The “Meri Panchayat Mobile app” was introduced on Monday, and Singh said it will assist promote transparency in the work of panchayati raj institutions while virtually addressing a National Thematic Workshop on Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs) in Panchayats taking place in Srinagar. Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu & Kashmir, and Kapil Moreshwar Patil, the minister of state for panchayati raj, were there.Singh praised Sinha for the panchayat elections taking place in the Union territory and asserted that local government structures will be crucial in determining the course of India’s growth. “We want our panchayats to have access to technology. According to the minister, this app marks a new beginning in this direction.
The Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations are to be completed by 2030, according to the Modi administration. Panchayat representatives are also in charge of it. People are looking at you who voted for you,” he remarked. The sarpanch, according to Singh, is in charge of ensuring a panchayat’s prosperity. He also suggested that information about all of the activities being carried out by a panchayat be posted on the App.The minister added that it had never been done before and emphasised the importance of improving cooperation amongst the various panchayati raj levels. The gramme panchayats at the village level, the mandal parishad or block samiti or panchayat samiti at the block level, and the zila parishad or district panchayat at the district level make up India’s three-tiered panchayati raj system.
The minister for rural development added that panchayats will be crucial in ensuring that India becomes carbon neutral by 2030. The national workshop will be attended by some 1,000 elected officials and members of panchayati raj institutions from all over the nation, including Jammu & Kashmir. The programme is open to panchayats that have taken the lead in specific subject areas.The workshop’s major goal will be to demonstrate the best tactics, methods, convergent activities, and creative models in the context of capacity building and training. The programme also intends to encourage reflection on the GPDP’s Gramme Panchayat Development Plan (SDG) themes.
The minister said the goal of the “Lakhpati Didi” programme, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled on Independence Day, is to reach the program’s target by December 2023.
Under the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme, which attempts to encourage them to create micro-enterprises, the government is planning to provide two crore women with skill development training.
