MeT predicts heavy rainfall from tomorrow,night temp stays below normal in J&K

SRINAGAR : The weather office on Sunday forecasted widespread light to moderate rain and thunderstorm on May 30 and 3 in Jammu and Kashmir. According to a meteorological department official, Srinagar had a low of 8.9°C, down from 9.0°C the night before and 3.1°C below average for the summer capital. According to him, Qazigund recorded a low of 6.6°C, which was 4.1°C below average for the gateway town of Kashmir, compared to 7.8°C the previous night. According to him, Pahalgam in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir recorded a low temperature of 2.6°C, down from 2.8°C the previous night and 3.5°C below typical for the well-known tourist destination.He reported that the temperature in Kupwara town, which was 3.2°C below average for the north Kashmir region, settled at 7.4°C as opposed to 8.2°C the previous night. According to the officials, Kokernag recorded a low of 7.5°C, 3.1°C below usual for the area, compared to 5.8°C the previous night. In comparison to the previous night, Gulmarg reported a low of 3.4°C, which was 3.7°C below typical for the renowned skiing destination in the Baramulla region of north Kashmir.Jammu recorded a low of 19.2°C against 20.1°C on the previous night and it was 5.7°C below normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 91°C (below normal by 3.1°C), Batote 12.0°C (3.1°C below normal), Katra 17.2°C (4.4°C below normal) and Bhaderwah 8.3°C (below normal by 2.8°C). Ladakh’s Leh recorded a low of 0.6°C, he said.
