Mainly dry weather forecast due to rise in night temperatures in J&K

SRINAGAR: The MET in J&K has forecast mainly dry weather from June 18 onwards, as minimum temperatures recorded an increase across the region on Saturday.The department’s official reported that Srinagar experienced a low temperature of 16.0°C, which was a little bit warmer than the previous night’s 15.6°C. The summer time capital saw a 1.2°C above average temperature. The gateway town of Kashmir, Qazigund, reported a low temperature of 13.4°C, which was 0.1°C above average but only slightly lower than the previous night’s 14.0°C.The low temperature in Pahalgam, a well-known tourist destination in the Anantnag region of south Kashmir, was 9.4°C as opposed to 7.8°C the night before. It was 0.9°C warmer than usual for the season. While everything was going on, Kupwara town in north Kashmir recorded a low temperature of 12.2°C, which was 1.0°C below average but significantly higher than the previous night’s 11.4°C. The following minimum temperatures were recorded in other parts of the area: 13.1°C in Kokernag, 8.8°C in Gulmarg, 25.9°C in Jammu, 14.3°C in Banihal, 16.2°C in Batote, 22.0°C in Katra, 14.0°C in Bhaderwah, 7.9°C in Leh, and 11.7°C in Kargil. The meteorological service has forecast sporadic light rain showers in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, then mostly dry weather starting on June 23.Residents and visitors may anticipate generally comfortable circumstances in the next days as the region receives an increase in nighttime temperatures and a mostly dry weather forecast.
