SRINAGAR: LG Sinha held a meeting with Senior Administrative, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board officials, Police to review the arrangements for pilgrimage and restoration of NH stretch that was affected by incessant rain.The restoration work of the damaged length at Panthyal Ramban is being done on a war footing, the Secretary of Public Works (R&B) informed the Lt. Governor. The Lt. Governor issued a directive ordering the stationing of the appropriate personnel and equipment at strategic areas to ensure prompt response and road upkeep. He also gave instructions for officials to regularly assess the situation and act quickly as necessary.The use of Mughal Road and other alternate highways for traffic movement was also covered at the discussion. In order to restore the damaged stretch as soon as possible, the J&K Administration is working with the Union Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways and NHAI. The public and pilgrims should be updated in real time on the state of the Yatra and the weather, according to the Lt. Governor.The Lt. Governor gave the officials instructions to provide pilgrims with every help, housing, and meal arrangement feasible, as well as to make the most use of main camps and improve pilgrim medical services.Due to the restricted National Highway, the holding capacity in Kashmir Division should be expanded for pilgrims returning after darshan. Because Kathua serves as the gateway to J&K, it should make the best use of its holding area.The Lt Governor instructed the officials, “We should expand the capacity and amenities at the health centres in both divisions. The Lt. Governor recognised the outstanding efforts made by the J&K Police, Army, CAPFs, civil administration, camp directors, SASB officials, and all other stakeholder departments and agencies to restore the arrangements and ensure the best amenities despite significant difficulties brought on by the harsh weather.Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, CEO of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, informed the chair that Yatra nodal personnel are working around the clock to ensure orderly arrangements. Mountain Rescue Teams have been deployed on the tracks to assist the pilgrims and all stakeholders. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the ACS Home, RK Goyal, the DGP, RR Swain, the Special DG CID, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, senior officers of the Civil Administration, Police, and SASB, Camp Directors, Nodal Officers, and other relevant officials.
