Kejriwal attacks Centre on Ordinance row : “Today in Delhi, tomorrow it will be brought in other states”

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor on Sunday claimed that the Ordinance that was brought by the central government in Delhi is going to be brought in other states as well.We have learned that this is Modi ji’s first attack, Kejriwal remarked while speaking to the massive AAP protest against the Center’s Ordinance at Ramlila Maidan. The ordinance is currently being used in Delhi to impose a dictatorship. This will be distributed tomorrow in Punjab, Rajasthan, and MP. He added that just as his party’s campaign against corruption was successful, so too would be the campaign to preserve the Constitution. “I bow down to this platform, it is a hallowed platform. Twelve years ago, we gathered in the same Ramlila Maidan today to fight against corruption. We have assembled here today to demand the ouster of an egotistical ruler. This fight to safeguard the Constitution will be successful, just as the movement against corruption was, he predicted. ‘Fighting the war of Delhiites’ before the Supreme Court, Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi was thanked by Delhi Chief Minister. “The Supreme Court rendered a ruling in Delhi’s favour.I appreciate Abhishek Manu Singhvi using this platform to fight for Delhiites. The Supreme Court’s ruling was overturned by the Prime Minister a week after it was issued. Such a Prime Minister has finally arrived after 75 years,” continued Kejriwal. He continued, “Today democracy in the nation is coming to an end; this is what dictatorship looks like. In its ruling, the Supreme Court stated that India is a democracy, that the people elect their government, and that the government has the right to function.Modi ji, however, asserts that he does not recognise the Supreme Court’s ruling and that he has amended it by an ordinance. According to Modi ji’s ordinance, Delhi will no longer be a democratic city and the dictatorship will remain. The prime minister has stated that he will lead the government through the LG.CM Kejriwal claimed that BJP politicians had been insulting him daily, but that he had been preoccupied with work and would continue to oppose the ordinance.Baba Saheb had said that the people will be in charge when the constitution was put into effect on January 26, 1950, but Modi ji has completely overturned it. Every day I receive vitriol from BJP leaders, but it doesn’t bother me because I am focused on my work. However, Modi Ji has imposed the ordinance on the Delhi citizens. I will continue to oppose this ordinance, the AAP convenor declared. The AAP held a large protest against the Center’s Ordinance on control over administrative services in the capital on Sunday at Delhi’s Ramlila Ground. Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi and AAP convenor, spoke at the gathering together with Bhagwant Mann, a minister in Punjab, Gopal Rai, and party MP Sanjay Singh. Notably, prominent attorney and former Union Minister Kapil Sibal appeared at the demonstration and discussed the ordinance’s legal and constitutional implications. Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister, invited Sibal to the event. In anticipation of the rally, Delhi Police has increased security around the Ramlila Maidan. Beginning on May 23, Kejriwal began a cross-country trip to solicit opposition party support against the Ordinance.Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, K Chandrashekar Rao, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, Sharad Pawar, the chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav have all met with the AAP national convenor so far. Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, stated on Wednesday that the Rajya Sabha might overturn the Center’s ordinance if non-BJP parties banded together. He claimed that doing this would send a clear message that the Modi administration will not be in office in 2024.On May 19, the Union government introduced an ordinance to establish guidelines for the GNCTD about “transfer posting, vigilance, and other incidental matters.” The Supreme Court’s ruling in the Centre v. Delhi case is disregarded by the ordinance, which was introduced to amend the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991.
