KULGAM: In the Kulgam area of South Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday annexed the property valued at lacs belonging to a well-known drug dealer. Under section 68-F (2) of the NDPS Act 1985, District Police Kulgam continued its harsh action against drug peddling and its propagators by attaching property (under construction house) on 10 Marla of land bearing survey no 622 belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Barkatullah Mir son of Mohd Abdullah Mir, resident of Buchroo, Kulgam. The property was discovered to have been unlawfully acquired during the Kulgam police’s investigation and inquiry.The owner initially obtained the property through the illegal trafficking of psychotropic and narcotic drugs. The aforementioned drug dealer is pertinently connected to Case FIR numbers 69/2021 of Kulgam Police Station and 03/2018 of Yaripora Police Station. This move reaffirms the police’s commitment to fighting the drug problem. The people in the neighbourhood have applauded the police for taking the initiative to attach real estate that the drug dealer had raised or exploited for illegal drug trafficking.
