JAMMU, Dec 19: Anand Jain, the Inspector General of Police for the Jammu zone, stated on Tuesday that Jammu and Kashmir is fully capable of handling any challenge. He urged young people to use their time and energy constructively for the good of the nation. Speaking to reporters, Jain had just opened a cricket match in the Kathua district honouring its martyrs, which the police had organised.Earlier, IGP Jain paid respects to the police officers who gave their lives in the battle against terrorism in Kathua along with Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Inspector General of Police Shakti Pathak, and Senior Superintendent of Police Shivdeep Singh from the Jammu-Samba-Kathua range. In response to a query regarding the likelihood of an increase in terrorist activity along the Jammu border throughout the current winter, Jain stated, “The J&K Police is fully capable to meet any challenge and are promise-bound (to root out terrorism).” Although potential infiltration routes are blocked by heavy snowfall along the Line of Control in Kashmir and some areas of Jammu, the threat of infiltration increases due to fog along the International Border in the districts of Kathua, Samba, and Jammu. When asked about drug smuggling from Punjab into Jammu and Kashmir, he responded that all cases are being looked into in order to identify any connections, both forward and backward. “We’re working to make J&K a drug-free area,” he declared, encouraging the youth to abstain from drugs and spend their time and energy wisely for both the good of the nation as a whole and themselves. He claimed that in addition to honouring the police officers who have lost their lives, the cricket competition inspires young people to pursue sports and education so they can contribute to the growth of the country.
