Palamu (Jharkhand) :On Saturday night in Jharkhand, a sleeper coach of the Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express was raided by a group of about a dozen armed men who had their faces covered. The federal railway police reported that the group opened fire, beat the passengers, and then made off with money, jewellery, and other valuables.The Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express (Train No. 18309), which was headed to Jammu, was attacked by the thieves at roughly 11.22 p.m., after it had left Latehar station. The thieves, according to officials, boarded the train in Latehar. Around 11.22 p.m., the train left Latehar and began travelling to its next destination. “At least 10 unidentified men stormed inside the S9 coach of the Jammu Tawi Express between Latehar and Barwadih stations under the jurisdictions of East Central Railway and started robbing passengers,” according to officials. They claimed that the assailants beat up on the passengers and fired shots into the air to frighten them before fleeing with money and other valuables after pulling the chain. “The assault injured 5 to 6 people, who received treatment at Daltonganj station. The injured were treated on the train, according to reports from the district administration in Palamu.
