JAMMU: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh stated today that over two crore visitors have visited the UT in the past year, claiming that the increasing tourism is a “living example” of the “Change in Jammu & Kashmir.” Dr. Jitendra Singh stated in an exclusive interview with that “and that has happened because terrorism has declined.” In the past, Kashmir used to attract few tourists because of the rise in terrorism,” he continued. Dr. Jitendra Singh responded to a query on the opposition’s claims that the government opposes J&K polls by stating that Home Minister Amit Shah has repeatedly stated in the Parliament that elections will take place at a suitable time. He remarked, “Now the Supreme Court has even ordered that the elections in Jammu & Kashmir should be conducted by September and the Home Minister has also stated that,” citing the court’s ruling on the elections. Whose claims would they believe now, if the Congress continues to claim that the BJP opposes holding the elections? He went on to emphasise that the appeasement tactics of the past governments in Jammu & Kashmir had prevented the people in the area from developing.
