JAMMU, Jan 19: Farooq Abdullah, the head of the National Conference, said on Friday that discussions over seat sharing in Jammu and Kashmir have already started and ruled out any delay in reaching a decision with the INDIA group. Abdullah’s remarks follow his recent warning that the INDIA bloc may be in danger if a deal on seat sharing is not reached quickly. He claimed that some members would attempt to establish their own group. The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir had stated, “If seat-sharing arrangement is not finalised then there is a threat to the alliance,” during an online conversation with former Union minister Kapil Sibal. It ought to be completed within a set time frame. I think the biggest risk is that some would band together to form a different coalition. There’s still time. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Abdullah stated that while everyone’s interests must be taken into consideration, his party has no issues with the INDIA coalition on the matter of seat distribution in Jammu and Kashmir. “I don’t believe there is a seat-sharing delay. They have already begun discussing it. It requires time. Each person has unique interests, and those need to be considered. The former chief minister of Jamaica told reporters here, “I’m sure everything will work out.”He went on to say that his party will not have any complications now, just as it has never had any in the past, in resolving such matters with the Congress.
