JAMMU: Div Com, Ramesh Kumar today visited Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar to inspect finalisation of arrangements at the Jammu base camp for the Annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2023.The Divisional Commissioner toured the Yatri Niwas complex with senior officers from the relevant departments to inspect the preparations made for the pilgrims’ safety and comfortable stay. Along with senior officers from the Health, CRPF, Jal Shakti, PWD, JPDCL, and other relevant departments, the Divisional Commissioner was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Avny Lavasa; Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav; SSP Jammu, SSP Traffic; SSP Security; Joint Director Tourism.The Joint Director of Tourism updated the Div Com on the status of different projects being carried out at the Yatri Niwas grounds to upgrade the amenities. It was disclosed that Yatri Niwas’ facelift and renovation work was finished. The Div Com emphasised the need to upgrade all fundamental amenities so that pilgrims don’t experience any difficulties while on the Yatra.The Div Com placed a strong emphasis on planning ahead and ensuring that the fundamental necessities are adequately provided. During the Yatra days, instructions were given for regular cleanliness, the provision of clean drinking water, and other logistics. The CRPF informed the Div Com that all nakas had been tightened and that an appropriate deployment would be made well in advance of the start of the yatra as they reviewed security plans.The Commissioner JMC informed the Div Com after reviewing the sanitation facilities that sufficient manpower (sanitation employees) had been assigned to ensure regular sanitation of Yatris Niwas and the adjacent region. The Div Com asked concerned departments to ensure that the barricading work was finished as soon as possible. In order to ensure the smooth operation of the Yatra, the Div Com also examined the parking area, locations for registration booths, Langer sites, etc. The Div Com gave the respective departments orders to speed up construction and ensure that all projects are finished on schedule.
