RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat made a full day visit of the border areas in Rajouri district as a proactive measure to guarantee their holistic development. He carefully evaluated the state of several development initiatives meant to improve the socioeconomic environment of the area while on the visit. The Government Degree College (GDC) construction site in Doongi served as the inspection’s focal point. It was notified that a sizable 75 kanal plot of land had been marked out and given to the Department of Higher Education specifically for this use.This ambitious project is expected to cost an impressive 35 crores, demonstrating the dedication to supporting the region’s educational development. The Jal Jeevan Mission-approved Sassal Kote Water Supply Scheme was one of the important projects that was being examined. By March 31, 2024, this initiative—which is expected to cost an estimated Rs 3.4 crore—should have benefited about 500 people. In a similar vein, the Jal Jeevan Mission-approved Pukhrani Water Supply Scheme analysis exposed a project with an estimated cost of Rs 979.77 lacs that, if completed, would assist 3776 people. Additionally, he examined the status of the JJM-approved water supply project at Rajpur Kamila.In order to emphasise the value of sustainable farming methods, the Deputy Commissioner went to the farm of a forward-thinking farmer in SasalKote village. This farmer demonstrates a dedication to creative and environmentally friendly farming methods by participating in a variety of activities like organic farming, horticulture, floriculture, and mushroom growing. Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash Bhagat gave the concerned officers instructions to prioritise the prompt and excellent completion of all ongoing district development projects during the tour. A particularly moving part of the tour was the Deputy Commissioner’s prayer offering for the region’s peace, prosperity, and advancement at the hallowed Shrine of Veervadeshwar.This gesture, which recognises the cultural and spiritual fabric that is essential to the community, demonstrates the administration’s comprehensive approach. The Deputy Commissioner met with members of the PRI and the general people in the Laroka and Rajpur Bhatta Panchayats of block Qila Darhal, where they raised a number of important concerns and requests for their respective regions. Among these were requests for better road access, upgraded water and electricity systems, and enough staffing for educational and medical facilities. The DC expressed empathy and promised to address all of their legitimate issues as soon as possible. The Deputy Commissioner later paid heartfelt respects to the martyrs of 1947 who gave their life defending the Fort against Pakistani invaders at Shaheed Ghar in Qila Darhal.
