Creating industrial hubs, implementing single GST rate imperative for shielding MSMEs : Rahul

NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi, said on Sunday that establishing industrial hubs and enacting a uniform GST rate are essential steps to protect MSMEs, which combined have the ability to fuel India’s growth engine. Following the restoration of his Lok Sabha membership, Gandhi visited “one of Ooty’s most celebrated brands” — Moddys Chocolates — on his route to his parliamentary district of Wayanad earlier this month. The chocolate-makers of Ooty are an internationally famous Indian enterprise that are tucked away in the scenic Nilgiris, according to a statement released by the Congress. “Recently, I had the wonderful privilege of visiting one of Ooty’s most renowned brands: Moddys Chocolates, on my route to Wayanad. Gandhi was quoted in the release as stating, “The entrepreneurial drive of the couple who founded this modest firm, Muralidhar Rao and Swati, is encouraging. The all-female staff that collaborates with them is equally impressive, he claimed. He added, “Some of the most exquisite couverture chocolates I’ve ever tasted are created by this dedicated team of 70 women.” But like countless other small and medium-sized enterprises all over India, Moddys is struggling under the weight of the Gabbar Singh Tax, he added.
