OCT 21, 2023 : Social media users are going crazy over a video purportedly showing a Bengaluru police officer stopping a supporter from yelling “Pakistan Zindabad” during Pakistan vs. Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The 45-second video shows a cricket fan at M Chinnaswamy Stadium disputing with a policeman about why he isn’t allowed to support his team, Pakistan, who is playing Australia. The individual is wearing a Pakistan cricket team jersey. Why is it acceptable to chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” but not “Pakistan Zindabad”? he queries. The policeman can be heard replying that while yelling “Pakistan Zindabad” is bad, singing “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” is okay.“Not at all? The fan questioned the policeman, “I’m from Pakistan, and they’re playing. What else should I say?” After that, the Pakistani fan pulled out his phone and asked the officer to record a message telling him that he was not permitted to say “Pakistan Zindabad.” There was a lot of support for the Pakistani cricket team during their two warm-up and world cup matches in Hyderabad.
