JAMMU, Aug 30 : According to police, the Crime Branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Police today filed a chargesheet against a man for allegedly defrauding another of Rs 12 lakh while pretending to be a government official in order to secure employment for the latter’s sons.
Ashiq Hussain, a resident of Barthi village in Gandoh tehsil of Doda district, has been charged twice previously in the previous 12 days. On August 18, he was also charged in a different case.
In a case that was opened last year on a complaint from a city resident named Ranjeet Singh Manhas, Jammu Crime Branch filed the chargesheet against Hussain.According to the complaint, Hussain pretended to be a deputy secretary at the Civil Secretariat and defrauded him of Rs 12 lakh under the guise of securing government positions for his two kids in the tourist department.
Hussain, a class IV employee in the Gandoh special division of the Power Development Department (PDD), had previously used impersonation to entice and deceive an unemployed kid into taking a position as a probationary officer in a J&K bank, the spokesman said.The fraudster has been charged with cheating and impersonation offences, according to a police spokesperson.
