Rajnath on China standoff : Ready to discuss issue with full courage

NEW DELHI: Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, asserted on Thursday that he has the guts to bring up the matter of the border impasse between the Chinese and Indian forces in the Lok Sabha. Singh brought up the nation's border security and the function of science in defending the nation's frontier as he opened a discussion in the House on the accomplishments of the Chandrayaan-3 mission and other achievements in the space sector. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the leader of the Congress, then brought up the border conflict with China. In response, the defence minister said he had the guts to bring up the subject. Puri Himmat Hain (I am brave to the fullest). He declared, "I am ready for a dialogue, and I have the confidence to discuss it. Since the horrific fighting in the Galwan Valley in June 2020, relations between India and China have been severely strained. Even though the two sides completed their disengagement from a number of regions after protracted diplomatic and military talks, the Indian and Chinese troops have been engaged in a three-year-long conflict in specific flashpoints in eastern Ladakh. India has continuously insisted that sustaining peace and tranquilly along the LAC was essential for the normalisation of all bilateral relations. CS reviews measures being taken to prevent dengue and status of ongoing smart city projects in Jammu

JAMMU: In order to stop the spread of dengue fever in Jammu division, the Health Department and municipal organisations are taking preventive measures, as reviewed by Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta today. Principal Secretary, H&UDD, Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Commissioner, JMC, Deputy Commissioner, Director of Health, Principal, GMC, Jammu, and other important personnel were present at the meeting. He was informed by Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary, H&ME, about the present state of dengue cases in the division. According to the Secretary, as of this time, 1295 people have tested positive for dengue, with 1 confirmed death and 428 patients receiving treatment at various medical facilities.The public was also made aware that, even though the situation is not alarming right now, the health department is fully prepared and keeping a strict eye out for any hotspots, with more than 11140 samples having been tested so far for diseases spread by mosquitoes. Additionally, the Helpline 108 (toll-free), which is operational, was informed that it was offering medical advice to any callers. The Chief Secretary assessed how prepared each department was to handle dengue cases, including district administration, and ordered the adoption of a three-pronged strategy that included IEC Campaigns to raise awareness of preventive measures, IEC Campaigns to raise awareness of symptoms and make access to medical care simple, and IEC Campaigns to contain the disease by taking steps like fumigation to stop the spread of dengue.Dr. Mehta ordered the interlinking of several hotline numbers so that individuals can be led to the appropriate helpline from any helpline number they contact in order to ensure that patients and citizens receive medical assistance quickly and without fuss. The Chief Secretary then went through the status of the ongoing projects in Jammu's Smart City Project. On the eve of the forthcoming Gandhi Jayanti, the CEO of Jammu Smart City updated him on the progress of key projects and significant initiatives. Dr. Mehta gave instructions for the swift implementation of the numerous projects so that Jammu's residents may see a significant improvement in the city's aesthetic and practical experience. On the eve of the upcoming Gandhi Jayanti, the Chief Secretary emphasised that the CEO, Smart Cities (Jammu and Srinagar), and Deputy Commissioners need to take initiatives aimed at improving the ease of living index of the general public within their respective districts so that residents take pride in their city and associate with the administration's initiatives aimed at improving their lives. In accordance with this, Dr. Mehta instructed the Housing and Urban Development Department to hold two competitions, the first between the Smart Cities/Districts of Jammu and Srinagar and the second between the remaining 18 districts, to determine which city or district is the best based on criteria that include overall sanitation, cleanliness, aesthetics, and citizen-friendly measures implemented in the districts/city.   [caption id="attachment_3046" align="alignnone" width="300"] CS reviews measures being taken to prevent dengue and status of ongoing smart city projects in Jammu[/caption]

Constitution cannot be amended so easily: Omar

SRINAGAR: Omar Abdullah, vice president of the National Conference (NC), stated here on Thursday that any attempt to fiddle with the Constitution would not be helpful for the nation since it cannot be changed so quickly. In answer to a reporter's inquiry, he made these comments regarding the Congress's claim that the words "socialist" and "secular" had been removed from the Preamble of the Constitution. The Constitution is not easily amendable. Obtaining a two-thirds majority is necessary to amend the Constitution. As far as I'm aware, neither the Lok Sabha nor the Rajya Sabha have held a vote to eliminate such phrases, Abdullah told reporters in the Handwara neighbourhood of the Kupwara region in north Kashmir. He claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is in power, circulated copies of the original Constitution among its members as proof that the occasion of shifting parliamentary proceedings from the old building to the new one was significant. If that is accurate, then we have no issues. We have always maintained that if Jammu and Kashmir joined India, it joined Mahatma Gandhi's country, not the country of the RSS or Sangh Parivar,'' the NC leader added. However, if they are tampering with the Constitution, then, pardon me, it will not be beneficial for the nation. When asked if his party had high hopes for the Supreme Court's decision on a group of petitions contesting the repeal of Article 370 of the Constitution, Abdullah responded that the NC had done everything it could and that "we are hopeful of (getting) justice." In response to reports that 80 percent of Jammu and Kashmir's residents are satisfied with the current form of government, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha replied, "Let the Assembly elections be held to see if that is the case." We were unable to see these 80% of the population. Why do people attend our programmes if that is the case? People travel to locations with NC programmes. CS for 100% segregation of waste at source by October

SRINAGAR: Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the Chief Secretary, today urged local authorities, especially municipalities, to segregate 100% of trash at the source for scientific treatment and to maintain the general cleanliness of the regions under their authority. These comments were delivered by Dr. Mehta as he presided over a meeting to assess the suggested action plan created to preserve our water bodies in accordance with the NGT's recommendations. MEA to Indians in Canada and those planning to travel there : Exercise caution

NEW DELHI: India warned its citizens in Canada and those considering a trip there on Wednesday to proceed with the utmost caution in light of anti-Indian actions taking place in several areas of that nation. Following Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's charges of a "potential" participation of Indian agents in the execution of Khalistani rebel Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June, the advise came amid a further worsening of diplomatic relations between the two nations. "All Indian nationals in Canada and those considering travel are urged to exercise the utmost caution in light of growing anti-India activities, politically-condoned hate crimes and criminal violence, " the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated in the alert. The statement read, "Recent threats have targeted Indian diplomats and Indian community members who oppose the anti-India agenda in particular." Indian nationals are consequently urged to stay away from areas and possible locations in Canada that have seen such events, the statement continued. According to the MEA, the Indian High Commission and general consulates would keep in touch with the Canadian government to ensure the security and well-being of the Indian community in Canada. According to the alert, "Indian students in particular are advised to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant given the deteriorating security environment in Canada." Onus lies with Pakistan for creating conducive atmosphere for resumption of Indo-Pak dialogue: Omar

JAMMU: Omar Abdullah, vice president of the National Conference, stated on Wednesday that Pakistan is responsible for fostering an environment in Jammu and Kashmir that will allow for the restart of talks with India. ''This runs the risk of damaging a very strong bilateral relationship,'' he said, referring to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations of a ''potential'' involvement of Indian agents in the killing of a Khalistani separatist leader in Canada in June. Given the significant problems in the women's reservation bill, especially the timing for its implementation, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir stated that his party will not be able to unilaterally endorse it."We have always backed communication between India and Pakistan, but for the discussions to pick back up, a friendly environment is required. At the headquarters of his party in this city, Abdullah told reporters that creating a climate that is conducive to discussion is not just India's job but also Pakistan's. He stated that the happenings in Rajouri, Kokernag, and Srinagar cannot help in fostering the conducive environment required for the conversation in reference to the army and police officials who died in recent confrontations. He claimed that so far, he has not observed any action from the adjoining nation that would aid in fostering the favourable environment required for the talk."I constantly think back to the quote by A. B. Vajpayee, the previous prime minister, that you may change your friends but not your neighbours. No matter what we do, that nation (Pakistan) will continue to be a neighbour. However, he added, "that nation must strive towards creating a favourable environment before negotiations can begin. Abdullah, a former Union minister of state for external affairs, responded that if the Canadian prime minister had any supporting documentation, he should submit it to the world community when questioned about the assertion. ''He says it's based on an ongoing inquiry,'' he says. He should not have preempted the investigation's results by acting now; instead, he should have waited for it to be finished.The connection with Canada has always been extremely good, so if he has evidence to back up his allegation, I would humbly recommend that he share it with the international audience. Otherwise, his comment carries the risk of tarnishing a very solid bilateral relationship. Abdullah said, "That will be really sad. According to him, it will take at least 10 years to implement the women's reservation measure that was introduced into Parliament on Wednesday. The bill mentions delimitation and a census before it is put into effect. Therefore, there is no chance before 2029 and there is a strong likelihood that it would fail by 2034. Why call a special session of Parliament when we had to wait at least ten years to pass a measure is unclear. He suggested that it might have been brought during the winter session. Abdullah stated that they hoped the bill will be enacted quickly and put into effect right away. "This bill has flaws, and we will work to have those flaws fixed." I don't see how we will be able to support a bill that we feel still has flaws on our own,'' he said. He stated that the National Conference has always supported the dignified repatriation of Kashmiri Pandits and their subsequent rehabilitation.Who will object to it (the rehabilitation and return of migrant pandits)? You won't need to drag them back, I've always said. They departed from there (Kashmir) as a result of their sense of unease. They will return if you give them a sense of security again, he said. Moving them from one camp to another, according to him, is meaningless. The environment must be created so they return voluntarily and can reside wherever they choose. That is what we want to see, Abdullah remarked. [caption id="attachment_2970" align="alignnone" width="300"] Onus lies with…

NEW DELHI: Sonia Gandhi,Congress parliamentary party chief, on Wednesday reiterated her party's support for the women's reservation bill and called for its swift passage, along with the inclusion of a provision for the representation of SCs, STs, and OBCs. In the Lok Sabha, Gandhi opened the discussion by stating, "I stand here in support of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam." Any delay in putting the women's reservation law into effect, according to her, will be a grave injustice to Indian women. Gandhi argued that the women's reservation bill should be put into effect as soon as feasible by removing all barriers.
