CS assesses preparedness for full solarization of government buildings till 2025

JAMMU: Today, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo presided over a meeting to evaluate the state of the Union's readiness for the prime minister's goal of having rooftop solar power plants on all government buildings by December 2025, which was set during the just finished CS Conference in New Delhi. Along with the principal secretary of finance, several top officers from the relevant departments also attended the meeting, including the CEO of JAKEDA, commissioner secretary of science and technology, and others. The Chief Secretary highlighted at the beginning of the meeting the need to have a solid plan for delivering the same on time and without fail. He explained that since solar energy is more affordable and environmentally friendly, it makes sense to embrace it and take full advantage of its potential in the Utah Territory. In order to analyse the viability and potential of each government building in Utah, he suggested arranging meetings with the major participants in the market, such as NHPC, NTPC, or SECI. Dulloo requested that you hold a one-day workshop with these players and let them know that you are interested in this solarization project. During his presentation, Commissioner Secretary for Science and Technology Saurabh Bhagat disclosed that UT government offices in J&K districts have 22494 registrations under their names, with a sanctioned load of around 486 MW. It was disclosed that JAKEDA or other departments have previously solarized close to 1900 structures, totaling 27.61 MW of capacity up to this point. Furthermore, it was discovered that by putting these rooftop solar power plants in the remaining 20,000 buildings, an additional 300 MW could be added. It was also mentioned that every department is required to submit data here, including a list of their buildings, approved linked loads, rooftop area free of shadows, geo-coordinates, and other pertinent information regarding these kinds of structures.He also stated that the government is willing to offer subsidies to the organisations carrying out this activity in the UT in addition to giving the JAKEDA the necessary revolving budget for this assignment. He recommended that the department conduct a study of the selected structures over the following few weeks and then create a model contract and DPR for each district. He advised them to keep an eye out for the fruitful precedents set by other States and UTs across the nation. J P Nadda in Jammu on Sunday will discuss BJP’s LS poll strategy for J&K with leaders

JAMMU: According to a leader, BJP president J P Nadda is coming to this area on Sunday for a daylong visit to discuss and finalise the party's plan for the Jammu and Kashmir Lok Sabha election. Nadda will start his tour by paying respects at the revered Raghunath temple in the centre of the city. Later, at the party headquarters here, he will preside over a meeting of senior members led by J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina. Along with the two Member Parliaments from J&K Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore Sharma, who have each won the party's seats in Udhampur and Jammu twice, National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, in charge of J&K, will also be present at the meeting.According to the leader mentioned earlier, the meeting's outcome will probably determine the party's Lok Sabha candidates. This decision will be made on the basis of an internal survey report that Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah received recently. He stated that the meeting's main goal would be to finalise the party's plan to oppose the INDIA bloc, which has indicated that it will field unified candidates to take on the BJP. JAMMU: On January 9, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to travel to Jammu to assess the state of security in J&K, paying special attention to Rajouri and Poonch. According to official sources, "The office of Union Home Minister has yet to confirm the schedule of his likely visit, which, in any case, is subject to fair weather conditions." CS listens to DDC Chairpersons from Jammu

JAMMU: While listening to the concerns raised by the District Development Council (DDC) Chairpersons of the Jammu division today, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo promised them that the LG Administration would do everything within its power to support this democratic institution in the UT. The commissioner secretary for housing and urban development and the principal secretary for finance from the RDD departments were also present at this meeting. These Chairpersons jointly presented a memo to the Chief Secretary for his consideration during this meeting. JAMMU:A meeting to review the implementation of the Financial Assistance Scheme for Displaced Persons and West Pakistani Refugees was chaired by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today. Provincial Rehabilitation Officer Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Deputy Commissioners from Jammu were present. The District Committee gathered information on beneficiaries by district from the corresponding Deputy Commissioners regarding cases that have been approved and those that are still pending. The Div Com instructed the Deputy Commissioners to oversee the implementation process personally and urged them to saturate the Scheme with all eligible beneficiaries. "Spread mass awareness among the targeted beneficiaries to ensure that the benefits reach to the last person in the queue" he stated.To identify and address any bottlenecks, the Div Com requested that the DCs call a meeting with all relevant parties, including the DPs and West Pakistani Refugees. ED Officers Attacked During Raid In Bengal; Oppn Demands President’s Rule

KOLKATA, Jan 5: During a raid in West Bengal, the supporters of a TMC leader attacked Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers. This led to a political standoff, with the opposition demanding the imposition of President's Rule and Governor C V Ananda Bose indicating his intention to look into constitutional options and take appropriate action. The Congress has urgently called for the imposition of President's Rule after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) described the incident at Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas district as a direct assault on the federal structure.However, the ruling TMC dismissed the accusations and charged that locals had been incited by central agency officials. The incident happened when ED officers raided TMC leader Sheikh Sajahan's home and were attacked by his supporters. As a result, both the officers' vehicles and their own were seriously damaged. State Minister Jyotipriyo Mallick, who was detained in relation to the multi-crore ration distribution scam, is thought to have had close assistance from Sajahan. In an audio statement, Bose stated, "The police should stop acting like ostriches and pretending not to notice the lawlessness around them. The incident set off a political firestorm in West Bengal, where opposition parties denounced the state of law and order that was rapidly deteriorating. The failure of the corresponding state governments to provide central agency officers with sufficient security was highlighted by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik, who said, "The attack on the officers of the central agency is an attack on the federal structure of the state."He stated that the Centre is paying close attention to the incident and is determined to find out why West Bengal experiences these kinds of things on a regular basis. Chandigarh, Jan 5: During searches by the Enforcement Directorate against former INLD MLA Dilbag Singh and his associates, foreign-made weapons, approximately 300 cartridges, Rs 5 crore cash and more than 100 spirits bottles were found, according to official sources on Friday. On Thursday, the central agency began raiding the residence of Sonipat Congress MLA and former legislator Surender Panwar. The raids were related to a money laundering case involving suspected illicit mining in the Yamunanagar district of Haryana. The sources said that from the locations connected to Singh and his associates, approximately Rs 5 crore in cash, alleged "illegal" foreign-made weapons, about 300 cartridges, more than 100 spirits bottles, 4-5 kg of gold, and documents pertaining to assets in India and abroad had been recovered.They said that searches are still ongoing at some locations. The two politicians and associated entities had about 20 locations in Yamunanagar, Sonipat, Mohali, Faridabad, Chandigarh, and Karnal covered during the raids carried out in accordance with the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act). Singh was a Yamunanagar-based member of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD). The money laundering case is the result of multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) filed by the Haryana Police to investigate past alleged illegal mining of boulders, gravel, and sand in Yamunanagar and surrounding districts, even after the lease had expired and a court order had been issued. The central agency is also looking into claims of fraud in the "e-Ravana" scheme, an online portal that the Haryana government launched in 2020 to make it easier to collect taxes and royalties and to stop tax evasion in mining areas.
