DGP Swain Calls For Strict Action Against Drug Traffickers In J&K

JAMMU, Feb 2: R R Swain, the director general of police for Jammu and Kashmir, has demanded that those who traffic in drugs within the Union Territory face rigorous and deliberate punishment. At this Thursday's monthly crime review meeting, Swain declared, "The (narcotics) trade is extremely dangerous, as it not only destroys the younger generation but is also being used to generate funds to support terrorist activities." He gave the officers orders to deal with the drug trafficking offenders in a severe and organised manner.According to a police spokesperson, the DGP also gave them instructions to keep track of drug users and dealers so that more thorough action may be taken. In addition to ordering the indexing of drivers and cars discovered to be involved in the transit of drugs, Swain put pressure on the officers to compile a "master list" of vehicles that committed offences on a regular basis. He highlighted on the categories of victims, peddlers and dealers and encouraged upon the cops to look forward and background linkages gaining from the past experiences.According to the spokesperson, the discussion covered a number of important topics related to enhancing the examination and resolution of criminal cases, including those involving drugs and the smuggling of cattle. "To improve the efficiency of crime disposal, we must create a comprehensive, up-to-date, and accurate database of the criminals," stated the DGP. "The crime picture of a district or zone should highlight the rate of disposal and quality of disposal of the crime cases registered." According to Swain, "a strong crime case database will aid in utilising the data for investigations." The trade is frequently linked to other illegal activities, such as the transfer of criminals and illegal materials, so the DGP instructed the cops to take strict action against bovine smugglers.“Strict action must be initiated against the vehicle owners whose vehicles are repeatedly used for the trade,” he stated. To further incentivize the officers, the DGP declared that the best district and best police station will be awarded to those who perform exceptionally well in the investigations. Rahul Nyay Yatra Resumes From Bengal’s Nabagram

Baharampur (WB), Feb 2: Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the "Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra" led by Rahul Gandhi resumed on Friday in Nabagram, West Bengal's Murshidabad. The district administration had requested that the party postpone the walk because of the class 10 state board test. The Yatra began at roughly 10.30 am from Nabagram and was slated to restart at 8 am from Gokarna in Murshidabad. The MP for Baharampur, Chowdhury, claimed that authorization to conduct the Yatra in the nearby Birbhum district—through which it is expected to transit on its way into Pakur, Jharkhand—was denied.He claimed that while the West Bengal Secondary Education Board's class 10 examinations are being held all over the state, the district of Murshidabad was not given permission to host a roadshow. Chowdhury told reporters, "I do not understand what is the problem if we peacefully conduct our Yatra after the examinees enter the centres." Gandhi set out on the Yatra in a red SUV from Nabagram, in the same district, and there weren't many other cars there. The MP from Baharampur declared that the Yatra will not use loudspeakers.He assured the examinees that they wouldn't be bothered, saying, "We have requested the administration to allow Rahul Gandhi's vehicle and a few cars accompanying his vehicle." According to Chowdhury, the Congress will not fight the administration. "Our goal is to peacefully bid farewell to Rahul Gandhi from West Bengal," he continued. Delhi CM Kejriwal skips 5th ED summons

NEW DELHI: According to the AAP, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not be questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday about a purported money laundering case related to the now-canceled Delhi excise scheme. On Wednesday, Kejriwal received a fifth summons from the ED, following his disregard for four previous ones that were sent out during the previous four months. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) declared that Kejriwal will not come before the agency to be questioned. The party called the summons "illegal" and claimed that Kejriwal is receiving frequent reminders from the ED to appear in court. The AAP further claimed that Kejriwal's incarceration is part of the BJP's plan to overthrow Delhi's government. It asserted that the AAP would not allow this to occur. However, the chief minister of Delhi is expected to participate in an AAP protest outside the BJP headquarters here at 11:00 a.m. Kejriwal disregarded the ED summonses for this year's January 3 and December 21 as well as November 2 and December 21 of 2023. These notifications were deemed "illegal" by him. The Delhi government's excise policy for 2021–22, which granted licences to liquor dealers, is accused of enabling cartelization and favouring some dealers who had reportedly paid bribes for it—a allegation that the AAP has always denied. After the scheme was abandoned, Delhi LG VK Saxena suggested a CBI investigation, and the ED filed a case in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
