Security forces find 3 cylinder IED planted near Handwara

SRINAGAR : An important IED attack on the Srinagar-Kupwara Highway near Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir was stopped by security troops on Friday. "A high-powered IED connected with three 10-kilogram LPG Cylinders was spotted by an alert Road Opening Party near Langait," said the Indian Army. The IED was allegedly planted on the National Highway that connects Kupwara and Srinagar, according to the officials. "Nearly 1000 civilian vehicles and 200 military vehicles passed by the location of the IED. The IED was discovered by the column of an air defence unit stationed nearby, according to the Indian Army. According to a press release, security personnel earlier that day blew up three suspicious gas cylinders they had discovered in the village of Ganapora in the Kupwara area of north Kashmir.The Army's road opening party (ROP), in coordination with the 30 Rashtriya Rifles (30RR) and Handwara Police, controlled the explosion of the suspicious cylinders. According to an official press release, "In a swift response to a potential security threat, the ROP of 25 ADP in collaboration with the 30 Rashtriya Rifles (30RR) and Handwara Police, successfully detonated three suspicious small petrol cylinders found along the roadside in Ganapora, area of Kralgund Handwara in Kupwara district." "At approximately 8:00 am, the ROP of 25 ADP spotted three suspicious tiny gas cylinders concealed under some bushes, roughly 100 meters from the Ganapora crossing, travelling towards Udipura," it continued." The security officers quickly assessed and reduced the threat after becoming aware of the potential threat. The suspected cylinders were securely destroyed by the joint team of the 30RR and the Handwara Police at around 1030 hours, it added. 1 more dies of dengue, 119 fresh cases reported

JAMMU: Dengue has claimed one more life, and 119 further cases of the vector-borne illness have been reported from various locations in Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the year's total to 3271 cases and four fatalities. According to a health official, Tejpal Pratap, a 20-year-old boy from Bihar who was residing in CTM Colony Kathua on October 10, passed away from dengue in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu. He claimed the patient was sent to GMCH Jammu on October 10 after being diagnosed with dengue fever on October 3 at GMC Kathua. He added that with this passing, there have now been four deaths related to the vector-borne illness this year. "This is the fourth death in Jammu province and the first in Kathua district," he said. The official added that 119 of the 828 people who had been tested for dengue today had tested positive. Out of the 119 positive cases, 66 instances were reported from the Jammu district, followed by 26 cases in Udhampur, 11 cases in Kathua, 6 cases in Samba, 4 cases in Reasi, 3 cases in Doda, 2 cases in Poonch, and 1 case in Ramban. 98 people and 21 kids are among the individuals who tested positive, he continued. According to him, out of the total 2234 cases documented so far, the majority are from the Jammu district, followed by the Udhampur district (348 cases), Kathua (249 cases), and Samba (218 cases). "There were 64 cases in Rajouri, 31 in Reasi, 30 in Ramban, 24 in Doda, 23 in Poonch, 4 in Kishtwar, 15 in Kashmir and 27 from other parts of the country," added the official. The official added that a total of 1094 dengue patients had been hospitalised to the hospitals as of now, and that 962 of them had been released while 101 were still receiving treatment. The official stated that "the number of dengue cases is increasing every day" and recommended the public to prevent stagnant water from forming in and around their homes because this is where the mosquitoes that transmit dengue thrive. He advised covering water-filled tanks and kitchenware, as well as emptying the cooler twice a week. IGP Anand Jain reviews arrangements for Commemoration Day Parade

JAMMU: Anand Jain, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Jammu Zone, reviewed the security-related plans for the Commemoration Day Parade, which will be held on October 21, 2023, to honour the police martyrs. The IGP Jammu announced that a blood donation camp will be held in conjunction with the Commemoration Day Parade while presiding over a high-level security-related meeting of the police officials in this regard. He gave the officers a briefing on how to prepare for the event and how to make administrative, public relations, and other key arrangements. Anand Jain, the IGP for the Jammu Zone, gave the police officers instructions to maintain close coordination and make sure that all the preparations are made in a coordinated way. Flight Carrying 212 Indians From Israel Lands In Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 13: Under "Operation Ajay," a plane transporting the first group of Indians who were trapped in Israel due to the current conflict landed in New Delhi on Friday morning. At least 212 Indian people have landed at the Delhi airport from Israel. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a minister for the Union, met them at the airport. Chandrasekhar hailed the reentering Indians with his hands folded. Then he started talking to the students. The federal minister informed the travellers that India is steadfast in its commitment to the security of every Indian. He stated that Prime Minister Modi is committed to defending them.No Indian will ever be abandoned by our administration. Our government, led by our prime minister, is committed to defending them and ensuring their safe return. We are grateful to EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar, the staff at the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Air India flight crew for making this possible and sending our kids back to their families securely and soundly, Chandrasekhar stated. 145 more test +ve for dengue

JAMMU: An additional 145 dengue cases were recorded on Thursday from various locations in Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the year's total to 3152. According to a health official, 78 instances were recorded today from the Jammu district alone, along with 33 cases from Udhampur, 15 cases from Kathua, 7 cases from Samba, 5 cases from Rajouri, 3 cases from Poonch, one case from each of the districts of Reasi, Doda, and Kishtwar, and one case from outside the UT. 126 adults and 19 kids are among the individuals who tested positive, he continued. According to him, out of the total 2168 cases reported thus far, the majority come from the Jammu district, followed by the Udhampur district (322 cases), Kathua (238 cases), and Samba (212 cases apiece)."There were 64 cases in Rajouri, 29 in Ramban, 27 in Reasi, 21 each in Poonch and Doda, 4 in Kishtwar, 15 in Kashmir and 27 from other parts of the country," added the official. RSS chief arriving today on 3 days visit

JAMMU: Dr. Mohan Rao Bhagwat, the head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), will be visiting for three days starting this evening. From the Jammu Airport, Dr. Bhagwat will immediately proceed to the RSS Headquarters at Keshaw Bhawan Amphalla. Ved Mandir and Keshaw Bhawan's entire complex has been made more secure, and the SSB and CRPF have seized control of it. Since the RSS chairman is one of the leaders who is now best secured and is safeguarded by Z + VVIP security, the RSS Jammu Headquarters have been declared outbound for guests when he is there. Upon his arrival in Jammu, Dr. Bhagwat will be greeted by senior Sangh officials led by Prant Pracharak, Rupesh Kumar.He may later interact informally at Keshaw Bhawan in the evening with senior J&K Sangh officials. Dr. Bhagwat will also go to one of Jammu's historic shrines and offer prayers there.He will depart for Kathua in the afternoon of October 15 following a meeting with Swayam Sewaks. At the Kathua Sports Stadium, he will address roughly 5000 Swayam Sewaks from the Kathua and Samba districts. Additionally, he would go to a community outside of Kathua district and display the statue of Bharat Mata there. Sangh has been a part of the village for almost 70 years. CS for start of month long cleanliness drive in govt offices

SRINAGAR: Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the chief secretary, today requested that a month-long cleaning campaign be conducted at all UT government buildings and educational institutions. The GAD Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Culture Secretary, both Divisional Commissioners, and all Deputy Commissioners of the UT all attended the meeting. Dr. Mehta made it clear to the officials during a review of the Swachhta Mission in J&K that since our villages have been designated as ODF+ Model categories, it is crucial to make all of our offices clutter-free in addition to boosting their atmosphere and tidying up their surroundings. The Chief Secretary insisted that cleaning should be done professionally to make nearly 50000 workplace spaces, including government school buildings, clean and aesthetically pleasing. In addition to giving these buildings a facelift, which included mowing the grass and whitewashing both the interior and outside, he requested them to install trash cans. He emphasised the need to make the UT "litter-free" by criminalising street littering. The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of making all the necessary preparations at the District and Divisional levels to receive these soil urns and send them onward for the construction of the National monument while reviewing the plans for sending block level Amrit Kalashs to New Delhi under "Meri Maati Mera Desh." He said that each rural and urban household's soil had been collected in accordance with the Ministry of Culture's regulations. The timely destruction of documents in government offices was also noted by the Chief Secretary. He noted that by month's end, the number should increase to 99% from the overall disposal of roughly 96% of files. He demanded that there be no delays beyond the allotted times for each ceremony. He urged all the officials to regularly check the outstanding files in order to identify anyone who has a history of causing unnecessary delays. The Chief Secretary asked the Divisional Administration to maintain reliable electricity supply, rationing, and prompt snow removal during winters while reviewing winter readiness. In metropolitan regions, he ordered the replacement of broken transformers within eight hours, and in rural areas, within twenty-four. He requested that enforcement personnel keep a closer eye on unlawful activity. He said that in addition to taking steps to maintain an uninterrupted power supply to all smart metered residences where AT&C losses are within acceptable limits, the scheduled 8-hour cut in non-metered areas should also be ensured. He requested that an IEC campaign be launched in local and social media to inform people of the advantages of paying their power bills on time. He stated that it is important for people to be informed that borrowing Rs 31000 Cr to pay for energy purchases is having a negative impact on other people-centric policies. He implied that the students at UT are intelligent enough to comprehend and support the administration's initiatives. The Chief Secretary further urged the relevant district administrations to take all necessary steps to ensure that the winters in this region are bright. He requested that they promptly clear the snow from all the tourist destinations' access routes so that they can stay open to the public at all times. He also suggested that they furnish these locations with amenities like power and other services without causing any unnecessary inconveniences during the winter. Later, the Chief Secretary went over the celebration of Navratri preparations. He gave the government the go-ahead to implement all necessary procedures to ensure that this festival ran well. He instructed them to ensure that there is constant access to water and electricity in all of the locations where this festival is observed.
