BJP Mahila Morcha hails passage of bill extending women’s quota to UT
JAMMU: The BJP Mahila Morcha in this area hailed the passing of a bill that gave Jammu and Kashmir access to the women's reservation law, describing it as a "significant step" towards the empowerment of women in the area. Two bills that expanded the women's reservation law's provisions to the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry were approved by the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Members gave out candy and danced to the rhythms of drums to show their happiness. The J&K BJP Mahila Morcha President, Sanjita Dogra, praised the bill's extension as a "significant step" towards "Nari Shakti" and emphasised its function as "Rashtra Shakti," or the strength of the country.The women's reservation law, officially known as the Constitution (One Hundred and Sixth Amendment) Act, 2023, aims to grant women 33% of the seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. "Today will go down in India's 75-year history as the day when half of the country's population achieved sufficient representation in the upper house of parliament," Dogra said, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing and enacting the legislation through both chambers. According to her, women's power is the nation's power, and the Amrit Kaal will allow both the country and the women to achieve greater things until 2047. Dogra congratulated women all around the country and emphasised the outstanding accomplishments of "Nari Shakti" in a variety of fields. "India's vision of women-led development is not only acknowledged but also adopted by the global community," she stated.
