KULGAM: Monday saw the Jammu and Kashmir Police seize a well-known drug dealer's property in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir's Qimoh neighbourhood. As part of their ongoing proactive efforts to combat the drug trade, Kulgam Police today attached a 625 square foot, double-story residential property owned by a well-known drug dealer, Mashooq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, R/O Khudwani Qaimoh, Kulgam, in accordance with section 68-F(2) of the NDPS Act 1985.The property was found to have been obtained unlawfully during the Kulgam police's investigation and inquiry. The owner initially obtained the property through the illegal trafficking of psychotropic and narcotic drugs. Pertinently the said drug seller is involved in Case FIR number 66/2023 of Police Station Qaimoh. This action demonstrates Kulgam Police's continued dedication to fighting the drug problem. Residents of the Kulgam district have applauded the police's initiative to attach real estate that has been raised or utilised in connection with drug dealers' illegal drug trafficking. Jammu, Jan 15: Following reports of suspicious activity in the region, the security forces began search operations in many villages in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, according to officials on Monday. They added that sniffer dogs and aircraft surveillance were employed in the search operations, which were conducted in the Sawjian districts of the Mandi tehsil. According to the officials, a search operation was in progress to find the terrorists who had opened fire on a convoy of Army vehicles on Friday in the Poonch villages of Krishnagati, Dharti, Dhara, Magnad, and Jallas. The location is heavily forested, and the army are combing it with sniffer dogs and aircraft surveillance, they said. Around 20K J&K Govt Buildings To Have Rooftop Solar Projects By 2025

JAMMU, Jan 15: With a goal of generating 300 MW of electricity from solar power by 2025, some 20,000 government buildings will have solar rooftop installations. The government has set a target of producing 300 MW of electricity by 2025, according to official sources who stated on Monday that the departments under government control in Jammu and Kashmir will receive their electrical supply from solar energy. The Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) will carry out rooftop solar projects on as many as 20,000 government buildings, according to official sources.They disclosed that as of right now, 1900 government buildings had rooftop solar projects installed, producing 27.61 MW of electricity. "JAKEDA and other sister concern departments have assisted in the establishment of these projects," they stated, mentioning that the combined load of government-affiliated institutions is approximately 600 MW. "The load of the government related entities, including hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, defence establishments, and street lights, aside from 22,49,4 registered government offices, is approximately 600 MW out of the approximately 4000 MW load with JPDCL," they stated."The J&K government will save approximately Rs 700 crore annually if only 50% of the energy needs are met through rooftop solar projects. Approximately 15 percent of energy is consumed by the government establishments, which is estimated to be 3000 million units of electricity annually," they continued. According to official sources, educational institutions with greater potential for solar power generation, such as Kashmir University, National Institute of Technology, and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, will also experience a decrease in their electricity consumption and consequent financial burden. "Government departments' increased electricity load will be relieved by reducing their electricity consumption," they stated.Official sources stated, "Several government departments are still not submitting their monthly electricity bills, despite the fact that the outstanding dues of various government departments are worth crores, which were waived off under a scheme." "In the pursuit of sustainable development, energy access, energy security, low-carbon emission, economic growth, and prosperity, JAKEDA promotes the widespread adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy, including hydropower, solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and hydrogen energy," the statement reads. JAMMU: The Army has stated that there has been no ceasefire violation (CFV) and that the purported gunfire that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning along the border in the Khour area of the Akhnoor sector was a speculative exchange of fire. "There are a number of media outlets carrying the story of the CFV on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor region. It is made clear that there hasn't been any CFV," a defence spokesperson stated.
