DGP Dilbag inaugurates additional facilities at Police Hospital Jammu

JAMMU: Dilbag Singh, the Director General of Police, visited Police Hospital Jammu and inaugurated several new facilities while accompanied by Dr. Rubinder Kaur, the Chairperson of Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA). Officers in attendance were Anand Jain, IGP Armed Jammu, M N Tiwari, DIsG Shreedhar Patil, Sarah Rizvi, and Nisha Nathyal, as well as IGP Jammu Zone. According to a statement, the DGP opened a labour room, a fully automated biochemistry analyzer for pathology, a prostho lab (dental), a FNAC section, and other additional hospital amenities. He expressed his gratitude to Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal and her staff at the Medical Superintendent Police Hospital in Jammu for offering top-notch medical care to law enforcement officers and their families.According to him, the police headquarters has shown a great deal of interest and concern in equipping the police hospitals with cutting-edge medical technology so that police officers can receive specialised Medicare facilities. He counselled the medical professionals to put in greater effort into giving police officers and their families the best healthcare available. Dr. Rubinder Kaur, the PWWA Chairperson, expressed gratitude for the efforts made by the Police Hospital Jammu's medical superintendent to provide police officers with greater access to healthcare facilities. She hoped that in order to support the Police Pariwar members, they would keep working with the same commitment. Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal, the hospital's medical superintendent, expressed gratitude to DGP J&K and the other guests for attending the event. Through a power point presentation, she also provided an overview of the hospital's operations and amenities. She gave her word that police hospitals will keep offering police officers and their families superior medical care. The DGP J&K previously met with Army and Police Officers to discuss the current security situation of the DKR and UR ranges at Delta Force Headquarters in Dharmund, Ramban district. There was a tattered conversation on the current security environment and obstacles during the DGP's visit. The officers also talked about how to secure the highways. The DGP placed emphasis on improving the forces' coordination and working together to eradicate the last terrorists in J&K. There was also talk on countermeasures against the drug trade. 111 fresh dengue cases reported in Jammu

JAMMU: On Saturday, a total of 11 new dengue cases were recorded from different regions of Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the overall number of cases this year to 4170. According to a health official, 73 instances from Jammu district alone were recorded today. Udhampur and Kathua districts reported 8 cases apiece, Samba reported 7, Doda reported 6, Rajouri and Kishtwar reported 3, Reasi reported 2, and J&K reported 2. He said that 98 adults and 13 children are among the positive patients. According to him, the Jammu district has recorded the most cases—2765—followed by Udhampur district (513 cases), Kathua (331 cases), and Samba (271 cases)."There were 77 cases in Rajouri, 45 in Ramban, 42 in Reasi, 36 in Doda, 25 in Poonch, 7 in Kishtwar, 22 in Kashmir and 32 from other parts of the country," added the official. The official added that although dengue has already claimed four lives this season, a total of 1334 people have been hospitalised to hospitals; of these, 1206 have been discharged and 92 are currently receiving treatment. The official declared, "There are more and more instances of dengue every day. Citizens should make sure there is no standing water inside or outside their homes, as this is where the insects that cause dengue thrive. Vande Bharat trains in Kashmir soon: Railway Minister Vaishnaw

NEW DELHI: After the Jammu-Srinagar line is operational, Vande Bharat services are anticipated to be launched in Srinagar later this fiscal year, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated on Thursday. 1 dead, 3 injured in road accident in Doda

DODA: Officials said today that a road accident in Bulandpur village, Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, had left one person dead and three injured. According to an official, a car with the licence plate JK06B 6028 was involved in an accident close to Khasal while travelling to Charota Bulandpur. He claimed that after being pulled from the automobile in serious condition, the four occupants were sent to a nearby Assar medical facility, where one of them was pronounced dead. Maneel Kumar, son of Choor Singh of Nagvas Assar, was identified as the deceased. Santa Kumar, son of Prem Singh (23), Sandesh Kumar, son of Nek Raj of Nagvaash Thandapani (28), and Mukesh Kumar, son of Chali Singh (22), all of Sanga Charota, were identified as the injured individuals. Punjab Police nabs operative of Goldy Brar & Lawrence Bishnoi gang

CHANDIGARH: An operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang was detained by the Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) on Wednesday. The operative and other members of the gang were allegedly plotting to attack targets that their international supervisors had assigned them. Twelve live rounds and four firearms were also found in the accused's possession by the police. "A significant development has occurred with the arrest of Sachin @ Bacchi, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi & Goldy Brar gang, by AGTF-Punjab.The accused was involved in giving the gang members' hideouts and logistical support," Punjab's Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, wrote on X. NEW DELHI, Oct 17 : After reviewing the campaign's progress at the end of the first two weeks, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, revealed that the Government had generated an impressive sum of more than Rs 117 crore in the first two weeks of the ongoing Special Swachhata Campaign 3.0, just by disposing of scrap. According to the Minister, this has also led to the elimination of garbage and the creation of 32.54 lakh square feet of usable office space, which has since been cleared and made accessible for use.While evaluating the developments of Week 2 of Special Campaign 3.0 here today, Dr. Jitendra Singh praised the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), being the nodal agency. He was grateful for the advancements made in reducing pending cases and institutionalising Swachata during the campaign, which is being carried out at all national government buildings from October 2–14, 2023.According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, there is widespread participation among Ministries, Departments, and their field/outstation offices. He emphasised once more that the campaign's main objective is to cover offices with public interaction. 1 more dies of dengue, 119 fresh cases reported

JAMMU: Dengue has claimed one more life, and 119 further cases of the vector-borne illness have been reported from various locations in Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the year's total to 3271 cases and four fatalities. According to a health official, Tejpal Pratap, a 20-year-old boy from Bihar who was residing in CTM Colony Kathua on October 10, passed away from dengue in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu. He claimed the patient was sent to GMCH Jammu on October 10 after being diagnosed with dengue fever on October 3 at GMC Kathua. He added that with this passing, there have now been four deaths related to the vector-borne illness this year. "This is the fourth death in Jammu province and the first in Kathua district," he said. The official added that 119 of the 828 people who had been tested for dengue today had tested positive. Out of the 119 positive cases, 66 instances were reported from the Jammu district, followed by 26 cases in Udhampur, 11 cases in Kathua, 6 cases in Samba, 4 cases in Reasi, 3 cases in Doda, 2 cases in Poonch, and 1 case in Ramban. 98 people and 21 kids are among the individuals who tested positive, he continued. According to him, out of the total 2234 cases documented so far, the majority are from the Jammu district, followed by the Udhampur district (348 cases), Kathua (249 cases), and Samba (218 cases). "There were 64 cases in Rajouri, 31 in Reasi, 30 in Ramban, 24 in Doda, 23 in Poonch, 4 in Kishtwar, 15 in Kashmir and 27 from other parts of the country," added the official. The official added that a total of 1094 dengue patients had been hospitalised to the hospitals as of now, and that 962 of them had been released while 101 were still receiving treatment. The official stated that "the number of dengue cases is increasing every day" and recommended the public to prevent stagnant water from forming in and around their homes because this is where the mosquitoes that transmit dengue thrive. He advised covering water-filled tanks and kitchenware, as well as emptying the cooler twice a week. IGP reviews preparedness for President’s visit, Navratri celebration

JAMMU: An official release said that on Tuesday, in anticipation of President Droupadi Murmu's visit to the Union Territory (UT) and the Navratri festival, Jammu's Inspector General of Police (IGP), Anand Jain, assessed the state of readiness at the Bhawan and Katra police stations in Jammu and Kashmir. ATF price increased by 5 percent, commercial LPG by Rs 209

NEW DELHI, Oct 1: On Sunday, the price of jet fuel, or ATF, was increased by 5%, marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase since July. In addition, the cost of commercial cooking gas, or LPG, was sharply increased by Rs 209 per 19-kg cylinder, in keeping with the firming up of international benchmarks. However, the cost of residential LPG, which is used to cook in domestic kitchens, remained constant at Rs 903 per 14.2-kg cylinder. According to a price statement from state-owned fuel dealers, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) increased by Rs 5,779.84 per kilolitre, or 5.1%, in the national capital to Rs 118,199.17 per kl from Rs 112,419.33.The hike follows the largest increase ever of 14.1% (Rs 13,911.07 per kilo) on September 1 and an increase of 8.5% (Rs 7,728.07 per kilo) on August 1. The burden on already struggling airlines will grow as a result of the fourth consecutive increase in jet fuel prices, which account for 40% of an airline's operating expenses. ATF price increased by 1.65% or Rs 1,476.79 per litre on July 1. ATF prices have increased by a record Rs 29,391.08 per kiloliter in just four rises.In addition, oil companies increased the cost of commercial LPG, which is used in places like hotels and restaurants, by Rs 209. In the national capital and Mumbai, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder will now set you back Rs 1,731.50 and Rs 1,684, respectively. The prices of cooking gas and ATF are revised by the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) on the first of every month based on the monthly average international price. For an unprecedented 18th consecutive month, the price of petrol and diesel remained frozen. China’s ‘Batwoman’ warns that there could be more Covid-like ‘outbreaks’ in the future

SEP 25, 2023 : Shi Zhengli, regarded as one of China's top virologists, has issued a warning that a new coronavirus is likely to emerge in the near future. Shi Zenghli, known as "batwoman" for her study into viruses that spread from animals, particularly bats, to people, declared in a report that the world needed to be ready for a disease similar to Covid-19. In a study report she co-authored with her colleagues, she stated, "If a coronavirus caused diseases to emerge before, there is a high chance it will cause future outbreaks."Shi's team at the Wuhan Institute of Virology assessed the likelihood of 40 different coronavirus species spreading to humans and classified half of them as "highly risky." The study was based on an examination of a number of viral characteristics, such as population size, genetic diversity, host species, and any prior zoonotic infections (diseases that spread from animals to people). Six of these 40 are known to have already led to human infection with illnesses. Future illness emergence "is almost certain, and it is highly likely that a [coronavirus] disease will emerge again," the report stated.The study was released in the English-language journal Emerging Microbes & Infections in July, but it wasn't until this month that it started trending on Chinese social media. This may be in part due to the study's non-Chinese language, but a researcher from the CDC in the country claimed it also showed a desire to move on from the topic in light of China's abrupt reversal of its zero-Covid regulations. "Sometimes in private conversations, when talking with other public health scholars, we have noticed that Chinese authorities are downplaying Covid-19, intentionally or unintentionally, and some cities have stopped releasing infection data," the scientist, who wished to remain anonymous, said to the South Morning China Post.The Wuhan team has also discovered sensitive and speedy testing methods that might be applied to continuously keep an eye on these dangerous infections.
