JAMMU: The Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party (DSSP) chairman and former minister for Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhary Lal Singh, was placed under judicial custody on Saturday by a Special designated Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court. The Enforcement Directorate detained Singh on November 7 in relation to a suspected money laundering case. Chaudhary Lal Singh was placed under two weeks of judicial custody by Special Judge CBI Bala Joyti, who oversaw the proceedings. Through video conference, the 64-year-old former minister and head of the DSSP made an appearance before the court. The Assistant Director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Jammu facilitated the appearance.Ashwani Khajuria, the special public prosecutor for the ED, made the case for the judicial remand during the hearing and requested a 14-day extension. The court took note of the arguments made and stated that Chaudhary Lal Singh was being investigated for a serious offence for which he was not eligible for bail. The Investigating Officer (IO) reported to the court that the accused was not cooperating and that no statements had been recorded. Thus, from November 18 to December 1, the court awarded judicial custody for a period of 14 days. The court also ordered Chaudhary Lal Singh to be kept in the District Jail in Amphalla, Jammu, and to undergo routine medical examinations in accordance with regulations. It also required the accused to appear in court on December 1st, the day after the judicial remand period ended. "Where there is Congress government, terrorism, atrocities, all these things, are unbridled there," Prime Minister Modi said, criticising the establishment party for the alleged atrocities against women in the state. Appeasement is paramount to Congress, and they will stop at nothing to achieve it." PM Modi made the comments while speaking at a polling place in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. "Congress has broken the trust of the women in the state," Prime Minister Modi said, criticising Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on the matter of women's safety in the state. Can the state's chief medical officer protect the women in his care, given that he claims that women file false reports of rape? A party with such misogyny ought to be punished." "Ministers in Congress have a demeaning attitude towards the state's women... They claim that because Rajasthan is a land of men, rape is occurring there, PM Modi stated. The prime minister declared that the BJP is committed to enhancing law and order in the state of Rajasthan and had produced a robust manifesto. "The goal of the BJP is to elevate Rajasthan to the top state in the nation. In order to provide a secure atmosphere for our sisters and daughters, the BJP is determined to combat corruption in Rajasthan, the prime minister stated. Asserting Congress's obligation to safeguard every citizen's life and property, the prime minister reminded lawmakers of their duty. However, crimes and atrocities against women, Dalits, tribal people, and the underprivileged have increased during the past five years. The prime minister attacked the government for the state's lack of law and order, claiming that no festival is observed here in a calm manner. "No holiday can be observed in peace here, not even Hanuman Jayanti, Ramnavmi, or Holi.Curfews, stone-throwing, and rioting all persisted in Rajasthan, according to PM Modi. In Rajasthan, the election is scheduled for November 25. The polls in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh ended on Friday. November 7 was the first day of the Chhattisgarh and Mizoram election phases.
