All Gaps Along Pakistan, Bangladesh Border To Be Plugged Over Next 2 Yrs: Shah

Hazaribag (Jharkhand), Dec 1: India's two main borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh would be fully guarded over the next two years, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who stated on Friday that efforts are now being made to close gaps in a 60-kilometer length along these two fronts. Shah was speaking following his salute from the BSF's ceremonial parade, which was held in honour of the BSF's 59th Raising Day festivities.The minister stated that in the nine years since taking office, the Narendra Modi administration has sealed and fortified gaps along roughly 560 kilometres of the borders between Bangladesh and Pakistan and India. According to him, work is only progressing on around 60 km of these two borders, which are on the western and eastern flanks of India, respectively, and all of the gaps are being filled in. We will completely protect these two borders in the next two years, according to Shah.Long riverine, hilly, and swampy landscapes separate the two borders—2,290 km for the India-Pakistan International Border and 4,096 km for the India-Bangladesh Border—making it difficult to build barriers. As a result, the BSF and other agencies deploy technological devices to detect infiltration. "I really think that without strong borders, a nation cannot grow and prosper.The BSF and other forces that the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent to secure the borders allowed the country to send its first astronauts to the moon, host the G20 Summit, and move its economy from the eleventh to the fifth rank.At the 'Meru' training camp here, the minister addressed the BSF staff, saying, "You, the BSF, are the essential pillar of this journey." "In my opinion, the border wall merely assists in carrying out this duty; it does not, by itself, save the nation. This mission is carried out by the courageous BSF jawan, he stated. Raised on December 1, 1965, the border force, with a strength of approximately 2.65 lakh, is primarily responsible for policing the 6,386 km-long Indian fronts with Bangladesh and Pakistan.The home minister claimed that border security was given top priority by every BJP government that came to power in the nation, from the Modi administration to the time of previous Prime Minister A B Vajpayee. The Modi government integrated security, development, and democratic processes along with a strong infrastructure and the start of welfare measures for the local population living on the front, he said, while Atal Ji's (Atal Bihari Vajpayee) government brought a "integrated" approach for border security. "Apart from land trade, we strengthened rail, road, waterway, and telephone communication connectivity," he stated.The home minister said that during the previous nine years, his administration built 510 observation towers, 452 new border posts, and connected 637 border posts to electricity. Additionally, 500 of these facilities received piped water on various fronts. Speaking about Left Wing Extremism (LWE), Shah claimed that the nation was on the verge of eradicating this violent and militant movement led by Maoist cadres. He claimed that throughout the previous ten years, there has been a 52% decrease in Naxal violence occurrences, a 70% decrease in deaths related to these incidents, and a 176 percent decrease in the number of damaged police stations."The final attack on LWE by the BSF, CRPF, and ITBP is currently underway. We're committed to eradicate naxalism from the nation," he declared. The minister continued by saying that during the previous ten years, up to 199 new security force camps have been created in the LWE impacted areas. He declared, "I'm confident we'll win this battle." We have defeated the insurgency in the northeast, the LWE, and the "hotspots" of Jammu and Kashmir in the last ten years of the Modi administration, he claimed, adding that the security forces have solidified their dominance in the region.
