Large number of people pay last respects to Captain M V Pranjal in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: In moving scenes, a sizable crowd paid their final respects to Captain M V Pranjal, who was killed in action against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. On Friday night, his mortal remains were transported by air to Bengaluru and then brought to his parents' residence in the nearby Anekal Taluk. Paying respects, mourners filed past Capt. Pranjal's body. Opposition Leader R Ashoka and Rural Bangalore MP D K Suresh were among those who paid respect to the deceased and sent their condolences to the family today. Following a wreath-laying ceremony, the state government and the Army presented Pranjal with a guard of honour.For the final ceremonies, his mortal remains will be carried in a procession to a crematorium in Kudlu Gate. The wife and parents of the 29-year-old member of the 63 Rashtriya Rifles who died on Wednesday during a firefight with terrorists in the Rajouri sector are still alive. Following his remains' arrival here last night, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah paid their final respects at HAL Airport. Siddaramaiah, expressing condolences, said the family of the martyr would receive Rs 50 lakh. NEW DELHI, Nov 24:  The Supreme Court has ruled that while the unelected Head of State is vested with constitutional powers, those powers cannot be used to obstruct state legislatures' normal legislative process. Specifically, the court stressed that governors cannot be allowed to hold bills for an indefinite period of time without taking any action. RAMBAN: According to an official today, traffic will be suspended on November 24 and 25 in order to complete construction work on the national highway connecting Jammu and Srinagar. According to a spokesman for the traffic department on Thursday, the administration has mandated the traffic suspension in order to ensure the safety of drivers on the highway. "The District Magistrate Ramban, by order no., has directed NHAI to ensure the safety of the general public, travellers, and drivers.Traffic between Nashri and the NAVYUG Tunnel will be suspended tomorrow, Friday, November 24, 2023, (intervening night of 23/24) from 0000 hours to 0400 hours, and Saturday, November 25, 2023, (intervening night of 24/25 from 0000 hours to 0400 hours), due to ADMR/1508-18 dated 22-11-2023 for the launching of the girders at Nashri viaduct-1 (Nasful to Lucky Dhaba stretch), fixing of Jet fans at Perrah, and Tunnel T5. Srinagar, Nov 23: Leaders and members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) protested against the electricity crisis in Kashmir on Thursday outside the party office, according to officials. Leading the PDP workers were Asiea Naqash, Abdul Qayoom Bhat, and Arif Laigroo. They attempted to protest the valley's lack of electricity at the start of the long winter season by marching from the PDP office near Sher-e-Kashmir Park here to Lal Chowk. Still, a posse of police officers stopped the demonstrators from marching past the nearby General Post Office (GPO) with signs and posters calling for an end to power outages. "Today's protest by PDP leaders and workers from Srinagar awoke the administration from a deep sleep." The escalating power crisis has brought darkness to Kashmir, according to PDP spokesman Mohit Bhan. "The J-K administration's incompetence is evident, and the residents are going through unending hardships. The people in charge don't seem to be aware that basic needs have been compromised, Bhan continued. Police stopped Pradesh Congress Committee employees from leaving their party office when they attempted to stage a protest against the power outage at Maulana Azad Road here. One of the demonstrators remarked, "Even hospitals lack electricity while they (officials) are spending money on driving around the town."
