UTTARKASHI :According to an ONGC official, a Magna Rod cutter machine has been used to expedite the rescue effort for 41 workers who have been stuck in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi since November 12. According to officials, the development happened after a plasma cutter machine was flown in from Hyderabad to cut the auger machine that became lodged in the Silkyara tunnel debris. They claimed that the machine was transported by a private company's charter flight from Rajahmundry Airport in Andhra Pradesh to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun at two in the morning on Saturday. According to them, the rescue crew working on the operation is deploying every kind of equipment to handle any emergency close to the Silkyara Tunnel. Early in the morning, the plasma cutter machine was delivered to the Silkyara tunnel. Even before the new machine arrived at the site, the auger machine was being removed. Amritsar, Nov 26: At Village Chak Allah Baksh, District Amritsar, the Border Security Force Punjab Frontier and India's first defence force stopped a Pakistani drone and seized a handgun and 5.240 kg of heroin. "On November 26, early in the morning, a Pakistani drone entered Indian airspace; BSF forces fired in response. A pistol, two magazines, twenty live rounds, and 5.240 kg of heroin were found by BSF Punjab Frontier troops during the search operation in the village of Chak Allah Baksh, District of Amritsar. BSF stopped yet another attempt by Pakistani smugglers to smuggle guns and drugs, Punjab BSF wrote on X.Data compiled by the border guarding force earlier this year showed that the Border Security Force (BSF) had accomplished a record by recovering 69 Pakistani drones that had infiltrated Indian territory in the final ten months of this year. This action prevented smugglers from attempting to smuggle drugs. According to the data, the BSF intercepted 69 of these drones on the Indian Western Border, which passes through the borders of Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu, between January 1 and October 31 of this year.Sixty of these 69 drones were taken from the border between Punjab and Rajasthan, and nine from both. October 19–saw the seizure of a maximum of 21 drones from Punjab and two from the Rajasthan border. Eleven drones in all were taken into custody in June, seven in May, six in February, July, and September, five in August, three in March and April, and one in January. According to the data, in January, March, April, and May, there was no drone recovery from the Rajasthan border. Between January 1, 2020, and October 31, this year, the BSF has confiscated 93 drones in total. Just one of them was taken out of the Jammu border in June 2020, and another one in December 2021. However, with the discovery of 22 drones from the Punjab border in 2022, drone recoveries unexpectedly multiplied. Seven, five, three, October, two, March, and one in each of the months of January, February, April, May, and June were among the twenty-two drones that were taken in. On the 3,323-kilometer India-Pakistan border, BSF personnel shot down a few of these drones. After receiving a tip, these recoveries were carried out closely in cooperation with state police. According to a BSF officer, smugglers in Pakistan use these drones to transport small amounts of illegal goods, primarily heroin, from 500 grammes to 1 kilogramme in India. This allows the drones to easily cross the India-Pakistan International Border by flying them at night. KOCHI: During the Cochin University annual event here on Saturday night, there was a stampede that left over 60 people injured and four students dead, according to authorities. The rush, according to officials, happened just before popular singer Nikita Gandhi was scheduled to perform at a musical festival in this area at the open-air auditorium of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). State Health Minister Veena George said that four students—two boys and two girls—lost their lives and that more than sixty others are receiving treatment at Kalamassery Medical College Hospital and a few other local hospitals. Four more students were listed as critically ill by George. A sudden downpour, according to ADGP M R Ajith Kumar, caused the audience to rush to the auditorium via the stairs, resulting in a stampede and subsequent deaths. "We deduced from the brochure that the festival was yearly and took place from November 24 to November 26. The 1,000–1,500 person capacity auditorium served as the venue for the musical performance. It had some filling in it. However, the kids hurried through the steps as the rain suddenly started, which caused the disaster, Kumar told reporters here. Officials subsequently stated that the singer had not started her song when the tragedy happened, despite early accounts indicating that the stampede happened during Nikitha Gandhi's musical performance. "Only those with tickets were allowed admission to the event. But throughout the musical performance, a number of locals were present outside the auditorium, an eyewitness told the reporters. In the midst of the catastrophe, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan addressed an urgent meeting at a government guest home in Kozhikode and expressed sorrow over the students' deaths. The meeting's chairperson, Vijayan, subsequently declared that all cultural and artistic events associated with the ongoing Nava Kerala Sadas programme in the northern district on Sunday have been cancelled. JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar examined today the Industries & Commerce Department's land-related concerns as well as the creation of Industrial Estates in the Districts. The Div Com thoroughly examined the land acquisition process for industrial estates in every district of the Jammu division, as well as the obstacles that the departments of the stakeholders were facing. It was advised that every district has land designated for the construction of industrial estates. The Div Com requested that representatives from the Industries department visit districts to verify the viability of the designated land.In addition to the progress made in resolving the land-related issues, trite discussions were held regarding the development of new estates and the augmentation of existing ones. Each case's current status was reported to the Div Com by the concerned Deputy Commissioner. It was advised that the majority of the problems have been fixed and that the remaining ones will be done so shortly. DCs were instructed by the Div Com to work with the Industries Department to resolve the outstanding land issues. In order to seek coordination for timely issue resolution, the Industries Department employees were also asked to maintain communication with DCs and revenue officers.The Department of Commerce gave DCs instructions to draw boundaries on the designated land and turn it over to the Industries and Commerce Department so that Industrial Estates could be established. Resolving the land issues for the approach roads to the sites was another directive given to the DCs. In order to create a supportive environment for the establishment of new industries, the Div Com urged the District Administration and relevant departments to take proactive measures in advance. It was requested of the Deputy Commissioners to create development plans for industrial estates in their individual districts.
