VARANASI: Numerous terracotta items, including figurines of deities and fragmented sculptures of Lord Hanuman and Lord Ganesha, were discovered from rubble in the western wall region of the premises, according to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in its survey report on the Gyanvapi mosque. Additionally, ASI reported that two glass objects—a necklace and a damaged Shiva linga—were discovered during its scientific study. "Differing kinds of stone objects include inscriptions on slabs, various-sized pestles and other domestic utensils, and sculptures of gods. There are statues of Shiva, Vishnu, Krishna, Hanuman, Ganesha, and other deities among the ones mentioned. Various kinds of terracotta objects, including as sling balls, tiles and bricks, male and female figures, deity figurines, etc., were found during the research. In the western wall area, fragments of Hanuman and Ganesha's figurines were discovered among debris, according to the study. "During the survey two glass objects, i.e. a pendant and a broken Shiva linga were found," said the report. Additionally, according to the Archaeological Survey of India, coins from various eras were also taken from the area. "These coins date from various eras. Shah Alam minted three coins with Persian legends on them. Numerous British-Indian coins, including a 64-coin hoard, were discovered. These include East India Company, Queen Victoria, Edward VII, and George V coins, some of which were corroded beyond recognition. There was also one copper coin belonging to Madhav Rao Scindia, according to the study. Following the publication of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey report on the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, the chairperson of the Islamic Centre of India, stated that the study must be examined before any comments can be made. "The 839-page report from the ASI has been delivered to the relevant parties; the Muslim side must first review the entire document and provide their feedback. We fervently hope that the decision-making process will be grounded in reality. The legal matter is still pending. “There existed large Hindu Temple…”: Hindu side lawyer cites ASI report on Gyanvapi complex survey

VARANASI: Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, the counsel for the Hindu side, stated that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has made a "conclusive finding" and stated that there existed a large Hindu Temple prior to construction of the existing structure, a day after the Varanasi district court ruled that the ASI survey report on the Gyanvapi mosque complex will be given to litigants on both sides. According to the ASI, a sizable Hindu temple predated the building of the current building. This is the ASI's definitive conclusion, Vishnu Shankar Jain told the local media. He noted that according to the ASI, several inscriptions on both the pre-existing and present structure were discovered during the survey. "The current survey resulted in the recording of 34 inscriptions and the taking of 32 stamped pages. In actuality, these are inscriptions that were previously present on a Hindu temple's stone that were utilised again throughout the building and restoration of the current building. They have inscriptions written in Telugu, Kannada, Grantha, and Devanagari scripts. The repurposing of older inscriptions within the structure implies that the previous structures were demolished and their components were used for the building and restoration of the current structure. These inscriptions contain three names of deities, including Janardana, Rudra, and Umeshwara," the counsel stated. Vishnu Shankar Jain provided further information, stating that the ASI has stated that the pillars and plasters utilised in the current building were examined methodically and scientifically in order to build Sahan and expand the mosque. "Plasters and pillars from earlier temples were repurposed with minimal alterations. A close examination of the plasters and pillars in the corridors reveals that they were originally a part of an earlier Hindu temple, which was dismantled to make room for them in the current building. The Vyala figures that were carved on either side of the lotus medallion were also dismantled, and floral patterns were added to the area once the corners' stone mass was removed. Two comparable plasters that are still in their original locations on the north and south walls of the western chamber attest to this observation. "In response to a court's directive, the ASI surveyed the Gyanvapi grounds to ascertain whether the mosque was built over an earlier Hindu temple structure. JAMMU: Director General of Police R R Swain said on Thursday that despite Jammu and Kashmir having a multi-tier security arrangement, the forces have prepared for every eventuality to guarantee a peaceful Republic Day celebration. Officials stated that the army and BSF troops have enhanced monitoring along the India-Pakistan border, and that police and paramilitary personnel have been placed on high alert throughout the region, especially along the roads, at railway stations, bus stands, and critical infrastructure. "We have addressed every potential threat as well as security. We have also prepared answers for every scenario. We will celebrate this day in peace, we are certain of it," Swain told local reporters. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will speak at a gathering at Jammu's M A Stadium on Friday, Republic Day. Recovered From Cockfight Competition In Punjab, Rooster To Be Brought To Court As ‘Case Property’

Chandigarh, Jan 25: When the case is heard, a cockfighter that was found during an illicit competition in the Bathinda region of Punjab a few days ago will be brought before the court as "case property." Police announced on Thursday that three of the organisers of the cockfight competition, which is a prohibited sport, in Balluana village, Bathinda, had been booked five days prior. Assistant Sub-Inspector Nirmaljit Singh stated that Rajwinder Singh, also known as Raju, was one of the three organisers, and that during a raid, police found the rooster on him.According to authorities, certain medals that were supposed to be awarded to rooster owners who won also turned up. The rooster has been transferred by the police to a local breeder, who is caring for it. Singh stated that the rooster was "case property" in the lawsuit and that "we will present the rooster in a court whenever hearing takes place in the matter." Any property that the police obtain in relation to an offence is referred to as "case property." Rajwinder Singh, Jagsir Singh, and Gurjit Singh had been arrested by the police for violating pertinent provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. According to authorities, all three have been granted bail in this case.
