KISHTWAR : In the Kishtwar district on Friday, a car carrying three people went off the road and into a gorge, killing the occupants. Three people lost their lives in an accident with the Alto automobile (Jk06B-I909) this afternoon close to Kandni Kishtwar. SC dismisses PIL challenging restoration of Rahul LS membership

New Delhi: On Friday, the Supreme Court denied a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that contested Congressleader Rahul Gandhi's reinstatement in the Lok Sabha and assessed the petitioner a fee of Rs 1 100,000.A court led by Justice BR Gavai declared that the petition constituted an abuse of the legal system because the petitioner's fundamental rights had not been infringed. Ashok Pandey, an advocate, filed a suit with the top court contesting Gandhi's reinstatement as a member. Gandhi's membership was reinstated by the Lok Sabha Secretariat following the Supreme Court's August 4 stay of his conviction in connection with a comment he made regarding the surname "Modi." The Congress leader was re-instated as Wayanad MP after being disqualified from the lower house in March 2023. Samba police arrests four hard core criminals

SAMBA: Four virulent attackers who killed a woman and police under the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Bari Brahmana and Police Station, Vijaypur, respectively, have been apprehended by police under the general supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Benam Tosh. The Rakh Barotian Vijaypur residents Mohammad Ashraf, alias Ashu, son of Roshan Din, Liaqat Ali, alias Laaki, son of Babur, and Mam Hussain, son of Babu, have all been recognised as the apprehended culprits. One other criminal has also been identified.Four hardened criminals have been apprehended: three were involved in an attack on police in case FIR No.132/2023 U/Ss 307, 382, 332, 353, 148, 149, 34 IPC of Police Station Vijaypur; during their patrol duty, the heroin smugglers and their supporters attacked them near Rakh Barotian last month. Another criminal was apprehended in case FIR No.247/2023 U/Ss 307, 452, 323, 147, 506 IPC of Police Station, Bari Brahmana, where a woman was attacked with a sharp object, leaving her critically injured and requiring hospitalisation.The police team led by SHO Vijaypur, Sandeep Charak, and SHO Bari Brahmana, Sumit Sharma, with the oversight of SDPO Vijaypur, Rohit Kumar, SDPO Bari Brahmana, Rahul Nagar, and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary, has apprehended the hardened offenders. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh, Samba police have apprehended 142 hardened offenders in the last nine months, and the district's miscreants, criminals, and Gunda members are all facing severe legal consequences. 4 dead after truck falls off bridge in Jammu

JAMMU:According to accounts, a truck went off a bridge in Jammu on Friday, killing four people. The tragedy happened on the Jhajjarkotli NH44, according to an official. A truck with the registration number RJ13GB/5654 lost control, struck the bridge divider, and then fell from a height of around 80 feet. The truck's conductor and driver were both pronounced dead at the spot, according to the official. Two more bodies that had been found and removed were found when the police squad arrived. Terror suspect held in Kathua

JAMMU: A terror suspect was apprehended by police last night from the Hiranagar tehsil of the Kathua district, close to the International Border. It was discovered that the suspect was using a mobile phone to transmit information to Pakistan. Union minister Gadkari reviews progress of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway in Punjab

AMRITSAR: When the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra motorway is operational, it will take four hours to get to Amritsar from Delhi and six hours to get to Katra from Delhi, according to Union minister Nitin Gadkari, who visited the project on Thursday. According to the minister of road transport and highways, this 669-kilometer greenfield motorway connecting Delhi, Amritsar, and Katra is being developed at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore. After it is finished, it takes four hours to go from Delhi to Amritsar and six hours to go from Delhi to Katra, he said. The current distance is 727 kilometres between Delhi to Katra. According to Gadkari, the new route's construction will cut the journey by 58 miles.According to Gadkari, the motorway is 399 km long in Punjab, of which 296 km have already seen construction. Of that length, over 137 km are in Haryana. According to him, there are 135 km of motorway in Jammu and Kashmir, 120 km of which are currently under construction. The motorway would cross industrial districts in Punjab, including Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Patiala, Sangrur, Malerkotla, and Ludhiana. According to the minister, one unique aspect of this corridor is the 1,300-meter cable-stayed bridge across the Beas River, which is the longest in Asia.Major religious sites such as the Golden Temple, the well-known Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu, the Sultanpur Lodhi Gurdwara in the Kapurthala district, the Goindwal Sahib Gurdwara, the Khandur Sahib Gurdwara, and the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib (Tarn Taran) will all be connected by the motorway. He stated that improved connection from Tarn Taran to the Amritsar airport will be made possible by the 50-km, four-lane bypass route, which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,475 crore. According to the minister, this bypass will be able to reduce traffic in Amritsar and enhance mobility.The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra motorway, according to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who was also present on this occasion, will herald a new era of unparalleled growth and wealth in the state. He added that the project will significantly boost regional economic activity and create new job opportunities for young people. The state government has already given the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) all of its assistance to see the project through to completion. Mann expressed optimism that the project will provide the state's trade and commerce with a much-needed boost. He claimed that the project will move forward much faster thanks to the Union minister's assistance. CIK raids several locations in Kashmir, says social media misused for threats

SRINAGAR: On Thursday, searches were carried out at five different places in the Kashmir districts of Kupwara, Srinagar, Anantnag, and Pulwama by Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK). According to a source in P/S CIK Srinagar, the searches were carried out in accordance with a search warrant that was acquired from the Court of Special Judge Designated under the NIA Act Srinagar in case FIR No. 07/2023 U/S 153-A, 505, 506 IPC, 13, 18, 18-B, and 39 UAPA. He stated that the matter involves a "deep conspiracy hatched by terrorist organisation (s) with their associates in Kashmir valley in conspiracy with handlers sitting across who are uploading criminal content on different social media platforms which are not only seditious in nature but are also spreading anti India narrative aiming at glorifying/glamorizing terrorists and also inciting and luring gullible youths to take up arms against sovereignty of India by joining terrorist ranks.""During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that some of these individuals/entities were profiling individuals, especially those who would like to take a different and independent stand against secessionists or terrorists and who are in support of peace, order and a violence free society, as legitimate targets of vilification and violence," stated the official. According to him, these anti-national groups are also victimising legitimate government employees in Kashmir and continuously threatening to destroy their person, reputation, or property in order to keep them from carrying out their legally mandated tasks. These threats might be made in a clear or covert manner."During the course of preliminary investigation, it was also revealed that through these Facebook accounts, these associates of terrorist organization(s) are promoting feeling of enmity and disharmony among different religious and regional groups and provoking youth to indulge in large scale violence and disturbance against the peace and tranquilly of Kashmir." Incriminating materials, including electronic devices and other items relevant to the case investigation, were found and recovered during the searches, he said. "Data analysis would come next, and any leads that surfaced would serve as the foundation for additional research.According to the official, searches are intended to destroy the terror ecosystem in the valley by locating those who pose a threat to state security and peace and who encourage or assist terrorists by enticing impressionable youth to join the cause. Police Arrests A Person Impersonating As An IAS Officer In Budgam

Srinagar, Oct 19: In the Budgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, police on Thursday detained a man posing as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and misleading the public, according to officials. On October 18, 2023, a resident of Aalipora Putlibagh named Ghulam Hassan Malik reportedly filed an official written complaint with Budgam Police Station regarding an alleged impersonation scheme. According to police, the applicant said that Ayush Koul, also known as "Vicky," who lives at Rose Lane No. 6, Rajbagh, Srinagar, had deceived him out of INR 6.5 lakh by pretending to be an IAS officer and using the false pretence to get the applicant's son hired by the government.An FIR No. 302/2023 was filed in police station Budgam in response to the complaint, in accordance with sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). After the main suspect, Ayush Koul, was captured during the inquiry, it became clear that Koul had an accomplice, Burhan Bashir, a Nundresh Colony, Bemina resident. They said Burhan Bashir and Ayush Koul were also taken into custody. In order to prevent falling victim to fraudulent schemes, police have asked the people to be cautious and watchful, and to confirm the credentials of anyone making such claims.The police urged anyone with relevant knowledge about this case to come forward and help with the current inquiry.
