Jammu, Nov 1: Officials reported that on Wednesday, a landmine explosion close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district injured three Army Soldiers. According to the officials, who cited preliminary data, the landmine went off as the soldiers were patrolling the Phagwari Gali region in the Mendhar sector. The injured were taken to a local hospital by air, and two of them were later sent, according to the officials, to a military hospital in Rajouri for specialised care.The forward areas are littered with landmines as part of an anti-infiltration barrier system, but occasionally the landmines are washed away by rain, which leads to these kinds of mishaps, according to the officials. Jammu : Within three hours of the crime being committed in Bishnah, which shocked Jammu, the man who had savagely murdered his mother and three-month-old daughter with a sharp-edged knife was apprehended by police on Tuesday.Dr. Vinod Kumar, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Jammu, verified the arrest and said that an investigation had been launched. The accused in the Bisha double murder case viciously killed both his mother and his three-month-old daughter, leaving everyone stunned and demanding immediate attention. Within three hours, the culprit was taken into custody, and the case is currently undergoing an inquiry and legal proceedings, according to SSP Jammu.According to earlier reports, authorities in Bishnah got information at approximately 5:00 p.m. regarding the murder of Jag Dev Singh, also known as Michael, who used a sharp-edged weapon to kill his mother Kamla Devi and his three-month-old daughter at his home in Morchapur Bishnah.After executing the crime, the accused rode off on his motorbike Pulsar, which was registered under the licence plate JK02CN 0372. Police units responded to the information quickly, arriving on the scene and securing the crime scene. Police added that numerous police teams were formed, all sources were alerted, and all police nakas in the region were placed on high alert.Within three hours of the act being committed, the teams managed to capture the suspect, according to the police, despite arduous attempts. At Police Station Bishnah, a case FIR number 245/2023 was filed in accordance with Section 302 of the IPC and 4/25 of the Arms Act. KOLKATA: When Pakistan and Bangladesh played cricket at the Eden Gardens for the World Cup, four people were arrested at the Maidan police station here, according to the authorities. They had been flying the Palestinian flag. A senior police official stated, "We had detained them for waving the Palestinian flag near Gate 6 and Block G1 (during the match on Tuesday)." He claimed that they did not, however, raise any slogans. The four onlookers, who were residents of the Bally, Ekbalpore, and Karaya regions, were released after some initial interrogation, the official informed . After some investigation, it was discovered that the four, who were all in their mid-20s, were protesting against the current conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and had picked the international match to do so. The event was attended by senior J&K Police officers, including Spl. DG Crime J&K, A.K. Choudhary, ADGsP, S. J. M. Gillani, M.K. Sinha, Vijay Kumar, Director, Fire & Emergency Services, J&K, Alok Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce Vikramjeet Singh, IGP V. K. Birdi, and IGP (CIV/Hqrs) B.S. Tuti. Senior officers greeted R.R. Swain upon his arrival and gave him a guard of respect on the PHQ grounds.He looked over the honour guard as well. Prior to becoming the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir in 1991, R.R. Swain, an IPS officer from the 1991 batch, held a number of significant and vital roles in the Jammu and Police, including AIG (P/W) PHQ, DIG Vigilance, SDPO Kothi Bagh, SP Ramban, SP Kargil, SP Poonch, SSP Kathua, SSP Jammu, and SSP Srinagar. Swain was deputed to the Indian government in November 2006, where he held positions of great prestige. Swain became the head of the CID wing when he joined the J&K Police in June 2020, and he assumed the position of DGP J&K today. Senior officers from the PHQ and other wings attended a meeting that J&K R.R. Swain chaired as soon as he assumed leadership of the DGP. BARAMULLA: In the Baramulla area of Jammu & Kashmir, terrorists shot and killed a chief constable of the police force. According to police, terrorists fired shots at Head Constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar outside his home in Kralpora, in the Pattan district. They claimed that after being taken to a neighbouring hospital, Dar passed away from his wounds. This attack was the third terrorist incident to occur in the Kashmir Valley in the previous forty-eight hours. On Monday, a citizen of Uttar Pradesh was the target of an act of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama area. According to a police official, Mukesh Singh was shot at approximately 12:45 p.m. in the Rajpora area of Pulwama. In the past, in the Srinagar neighbourhood of Eidgah, terrorists had shot at and seriously wounded a police officer. At the Eidgah ground, Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani was shot three times while he was playing cricket with the locals. Jammu, Oct 31: Throughout the Jammu region, several unity runs and integrity pledges were held in observance of "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas," which commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the nation's first home minister. Since 2014, the anniversary of Sardar Patel's birth has been observed as "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas," or National Unity Day. To commemorate the day, a "Run for Unity" was held in this location. On October 31, 2019, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, which divided the former state into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, went into effect. In J&K and Ladakh, this day is observed as Union Territory Day.Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar led the large unity run in Jammu, which was sponsored by the district administration. The run started at Gulshan Ground Area and ended at Hari Singh Park. The run for unity drew hundreds of participants, including schoolchildren, government representatives from various agencies, law enforcement officers, and citizens. They performed "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" organ chants. Speaking to media in this location, Kumar announced that on the 148th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth, a unity marathon had been planned. Kumar stated that he had been instrumental in the unification of India. According to the official, the day is also commemorated as the establishment day of Jammu and Kashmir's Union territory. People from all walks of life participated in a run for unity that was planned in response to this, he said. Preside over an integrity promise of the people, Kumar urged that people should emulate Sardar Patel by prioritising the nation and striving for unity and honesty. Reports from the district administration in a number of districts state that similar pledge runs for integration and unity were also held in their districts. SSP Amritpal Singh of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Rajouri set off a "Run for Unity" on Tuesday morning as part of the celebrations marking "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas" and police memorial week. Khalil Poswal, SSP Kishtwar, underlined the value of unity and the way Sardar Patel's actions brought princely kingdoms together to become a single, unified India. Srinagar, Oct 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Meteorological Centre issued a prediction on Tuesday regarding the likelihood of light rain or snowfall across isolated to scattered higher levels on November 2. According to the MeT office, the weather in Jammu and Kashmir will mostly stay cloudy with the chance of light rain or snowfall over isolated to scattered higher ranges on November 2-3.It stated that from November 4 to November 6, the weather will mostly stay dry. According to reports, most of J&K is now experiencing clear weather, and it will continue to do so until November 1.
