Srinagar, Jan 14: In the Budgam district of Jammu Kashmir police on Sunday successfully broke a burglary case when they detained a suspect and found thousands of dollars’ worth of pilfered goods. On January 12, 2024, the police reported that a written complaint had been received from a few shopkeepers in Magam Market, stating that their shops had been broken into during the course of the previous two nights, January 11 and 12, with products valued at thousands of rupees taken. Along with the other stolen items, the accused also stole one Sumo car, which they used to flee. According to police, a case was filed under pertinent legal provisions, and an investigation was launched. The offender, known as Yagipora Magam resident Himayat Hussain Mir, was arrested after certain suspects were picked up during the investigation.CCTV footage analysis revealed that the car was driven in the direction of the Pattan-Sopore axis. Teams were then dispatched to other areas and the car was located close to Hygam Sopore. Along with a Sumo car, goods valued in the lakhs have also been found. The police said that more arrests and recoveries are anticipated while the matter is still being investigated. Budgam police asked people to install CCTV cameras in accordance with the District Magistrate’s instructions.
