Bear cub’s head trapped inside box near Amarnath cave ; rescued

SRINAGAR: Near the Amarnath cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas, a bear cub had its head trapped inside a tin box when it was rescued on Saturday, according to officials. According to the officials, the newborn bear emerged from the holy cave’s upper levels on Friday night with its head wedged inside a tin container. A collaborative team from the wildlife department, Jammu and Kashmir Police, State Disaster Response Force, and National Disaster Response Force made multiple attempts to save the cub early on Saturday morning even though its mother was nearby, they claimed. The officials claimed that after a few failed efforts, the mother bear was chased away and the cub was defeated. The tin box was finally cracked open with a cutter, allowing the cub to be released. According to the rescuers, proper precautions were taken to prevent any damage to the cub. Following the rescue effort, the mother and cub were reunited, and the two ran in the direction of the mountains, the officials noted.
