Chamoli (Uttarakhand) : A woman was killed while five others have been rescued after a group of pilgrims were hit by an avalanche in Uttarakhand’s Atlakoti on Sunday.Six pilgrims were reportedly stuck after a glacier chunk detached near Atlakoti on the Hemkund Sahib Yatra path on Sunday night, according to officials. Despite the fact that five of them were saved, the woman had vanished following the tragedy. A joint search and rescue effort was then started by the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).The woman’s body was later found in the same location. The dead has been identified as Kamaljit Kaur, according to authorities. “This avalanche ultimately caught six Sikh pilgrims. On Sunday, the ITBP and SDRF successfully saved five pilgrims. The squad searching this morning discovered Kamaljit Kaur’s body in the snow, according to SDRF commandant Manikant Mishra. The woman’s body was given to the local police by SDRF, according to the SDRF commandant.
