We Understand Your Pain, Will Bring Back Harmony, Peace: Rahul Gandhi

THOUBAL, Jan 14:  As he set out on the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra on Sunday from this location in Manipur, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pledged to bring harmony and peace to the state plagued by interethnic violence. More than 180 people have died and others have been left homeless as a result of the violence that erupted in the northeastern state in May of last year. Gandhi also took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that possibly Manipur was not a part of India for the BJP and the RSS, while speaking at a public assembly in Thoubal, which is south of Imphal, the capital of Manipur. The prime minister has not been to comfort you, grasp your hand, or wipe your tears even though thousands of people have lost loved ones. Perhaps in the eyes of the RSS, the BJP, and Narendra Modi, Manipur is not a part of India. Gandhi remarked, "Your pain is not their pain." "We are aware of the suffering, hurt, and grief that the people of Manipur have endured. We're going to restore the affection, harmony, and tranquilly that this state was known for," he declared. The yatra would traverse 100 Lok Sabha constituencies, 337 assembly segments, and 110 districts over a span of 6,713 miles. After 67 days, it will come to an end in Mumbai on March 20. The prime minister was also criticised earlier by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who claimed that the prime minister had just travelled to the northeastern state to win votes and not to sympathise with the state's suffering citizens. "Modi hasn't visited Manipur; he has time to drive by the water and swim in it. Modi should not be chanting "Ram, Ram" in order to get votes. At the yatra's start, he declared, "The BJP incites people and mixes religion and politics." The BJP is talking about "Ram," but they also have a knife at their sides. The president of Congress stated, "They shouldn't treat individuals in such a way. According to Kharge, the Congress supported equity, secularism, and social justice. According to Rahul Gandhi, the goal of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is to combat fascist movements and preserve democracy and the Constitution. The Congress president said he was proud that a leader of his party was moving from door-to-door to convey the message of peace. Earlier, Kharge presented the bus on which Gandhi and other Congress leaders will travel from Manipur to Mumbai as part of the yatra.
