UDHAMPUR : A 72-feet high mast national flag was hoisted in the Udhampur district of J&K on Sunday, marking the 52nd raising day celebrations of the Army’s northern command, a defence spokesman said.On the occasion of the northern command’s raising day, Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, the chief of staff, officially unfurled the national flag at Pachouri Park in honour of the citizens of Udhampur, according to a spokesman. Lt Gen Sengupta addressed the group and thanked everyone for their contributions to the project’s development and implementation. In addition to serving as a continual reminder of Udhampur’s strength and resiliency, the High Mast Flag placed at Pachouri Park symbolises pride in one’s country, unity, hope, and progress,” he stated. The Indian Army’s innovative idea, which will go down in Udhampur’s history and serve as a reflection of the community’s spirit of patriotism, was praised by the residents as well, the spokesman said. The northern command, which is situated in Udhampur, has been leading the country’s effort to secure its western and northern borders as well as to combat security threats brought on by terrorism and an internationally funded proxy war in Jammu and Kashmir. An army officer said that the command has been in “Operational mode” since its start and has participated in several high- and low-intensity missions. The scourge of terrorism and the vicious proxy war in J&K are currently the greatest threats to the security of the country, and Northern Command is in the forefront of those operations. As a result, the forces of the command have always been engaged in battle, whether there is an official state of peace or not, he continued.
