Army schools issue advisory : Pak intel operatives target students in Jammu to seek sensitive information

JAMMU: Army sources said on Tuesday Many students, including from Army Public Schools here, are getting calls and WhatsApp messages from Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs), asking them to join particular social media groups and share sensitive information.According to the kids, PIOs are calling and messaging them on WhatsApp using the following two mobile numbers: 8617321715 and 9622262167. According to the sources, those impersonating teachers approach students by inviting them to join “new class groups” and offering them one-time passwords (OTPs), and after the students join the groups, they are required to divulge critical information. In order to make the students believe that their teachers are the ones contacting them, the sources claimed that these suspected PIOs call and send messages by making an initial reference to something the students are aware of.According to a warning from Army Public School administrators, PIOs are questioning pupils about things like their father’s work, the schedule and times of school, the names of their teachers, their uniform, and other things. It added teachers and students should be made aware of this, and schools and institutions should do this. The warning stated that other phone numbers may also send messages, and the operating method may also change. It urged the student’s parents to keep an eye out for any shady phone calls.
