ADGP reviews security for Buddha Amaranth pilgrimage

JAMMU: On Friday, Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu convened a preparatory meeting through virtual mode with senior police officers to discuss security arrangements for the upcoming annual Budha Amarnath pilgrimage in the border district of Poonch.With the concerned Range DIGs, District SSPs, SDPOs, and officers of the Traffic and Security wings, he discussed security-related problems. Recent years have seen a number of terrorist attacks and attempts by Pakistani terrorists to cross the Line of Control (LoC) into the Poonch area. The DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, SSP Jammu, and SSP Security were fully informed of the proposed Police and Security arrangements to be made by them at the Base Camps Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, en route to the Yatra, halting points, lodging facilities, and Budha Amar Nath Ji Temple at Mandi in District Poonch. Discussions on a variety of security concerns were held in the context of the current security situation in the twin border districts of the Jammu Zone. In order to achieve a smooth and incident-free Budha Amar Nath Ji Yatra in 2023, the ADGP also gave the participants advice on how to maintain good coordination with the intelligence agencies, the Army, PMF, Traffic, and Security wing in their respective areas of responsibility, including ROP. Among the officers present at the meeting were ; Suleman Choudhary, DIG UR Range, Udhampur, Shakti Pathak, DIG JSK Range, Jammu, Dr M Haseeb Mughal, DIG RP Range, Rajouri, Chandan Kohli, SSP Jammu, Amritpal Singh, SSP Rajouri, Shamsheer Choudhary, SSP Security, Jammu, Vinay Kumar Sharma, SSP Poonch, Amit Gupta, SSP Reasi, Vinay Kumar, SSP Traffic Rural, Jammu and Faisal Qureshi, SSP Traffic City, Jammu.
