NEW DELHI, Jan 25: The nation was brought out of darkness ten or twelve years ago, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who made this claim on Thursday when informing young people that their votes will determine India’s future course and strategy. In a virtual speech to young voters hosted by the ruling BJP’s youth wing, he stated that it is their duty to ensure that the nation develops over the next 25 years in the same manner that the younger generation did for its independence 25 years prior to Independence. Taking a jab at the opposition parties, Modi stated that the younger generation rejects nepotism and corruption, adding that family-run parties never let other young people succeed.“These parties’ leaders have an anti-youth mentality. With the might of your votes, you must defeat these family parties,” he declared. He claimed that things had changed from the conditions that existed in the nation ten or twelve years ago, which had cast doubt on young people’s futures. According to him, the nation is currently discussing possibilities that the generation that lived before 2014—the year the BJP took power at the national level—had given up on. The prime minister stated that while credibility and success stories are now discussed, corruption and frauds dominated headlines back then. He also added that news these days comes from accomplishments in a variety of fields. Speaking about increased infrastructure and many development initiatives like Digital India and support for start-ups, he claimed that young people had an abundance of opportunities. He declared that the youth have always been his first focus, saying, “It is Modi’s guarantee that your dreams are my resolve.” He cited the removal of Article 370, the implementation of the GST, the reservation of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and assemblies, and the cessation of the practice of instant triple talaq among Muslims as examples of significant decisions and issues resolved during the last ten years of a stable and strong majority government at the Centre.
