NEW DELHI:Rajasthan is the site of the joint military exercise between the UAE and India called “Desert Cyclone.” By discovering and exchanging best practices in operations, the exercise seeks to improve interoperability. Earlier on January 2, 45 soldiers from each of the two countries’ armed forces began the two-week-long joint military drill known as “Desert Cyclone” in Rajasthan. According to a press release from the Ministry of Defence, the UAE Land Forces contingent has arrived to take part in the first India-UAE Joint Military Exercise, “Desert Cyclone.” The exercise is taking place in Mahajan, Rajasthan, and it will last until January 15. The Zayed First Brigade is sending troops to represent the UAE contingent. A battalion from the Mechanised Infantry Regiment is primarily representing the 45-person Indian Army contingent.Under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter on Peacekeeping Operations, the exercise seeks to improve interoperability in sub-conventional operations, such as fighting in built-up areas (FIBUA) in desert or semi-desert terrain. During peacekeeping missions, the exercise will improve both sides’ coordination and interoperability. Exercise ‘Desert Cyclone’ will prepare drills involving the creation of a Joint Surveillance Centre, Cordon and Search Operation, Domination of Built-Up Area, and Heliborne Operations. Additionally, the exercise will promote cooperative teamwork and facilitate the exchange of best practices between the two parties. This exercise is a sign of the friendship and trust between India and the UAE being strengthened even more. In addition, the exercise attempts to promote bilateral ties between two friendly countries and accomplish common security goals.
