JAMMU: Area-wide dominance operations have been initiated in several locations within the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch with the aim of eliminating terrorists and their supporters, as well as locating their hiding places in forested areas, upper reaches, and other areas. In the Rajouri district’s Thannamandi area, a few hideouts were broken during the operations, yielding a significant amount of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. Officials claim that joint teams of the Army, police, and paramilitary forces have been searching for militants in forests, mountains, and other vulnerable areas where they may have taken refuge.“The officials stated that the area domination operations will increase pressure on the militants in the upper reaches and forests, resulting in encounters and their elimination.” Just yesterday, at Thannamandi, security forces retrieved four grenades, materials to make IEDs, two pistols with four magazines, four hand grenades, bags, blankets, trousers and other items. It appears from the recoveries that the militants may have stayed nearby. Alternatively, it’s possible that the Over Ground Workers (OGWs) dumped the shipment and intended for it to be picked up later, but the security forces recovered it in time.
