JAMMU, Jun 22 : The government of J&K on Wednesday declared Blue pansy (Junonia orithya) as butterfly of the UT of J&K.According to a directive from Principal Secretary to the Government for Forest Ecology and Environment Deeraj Gupta, “Sanction is hereby accorded to declaration of Blue pansy (Junonia orithya) as butterfly of the Union Territory of J&K.”
The Kalij Pheasant was designated as the Union Territory’s official bird by the government last year.
