SRINAGAR: The SIA of Kashmir conducted searches at many locations in 4 districts of the valley in a case involving misuse of social media, the agency said in a statement on Tuesday.The areas searched were Kupwara, Pulwama, Anantnag, and Srinagar. “SIA KASHMIR successfully conducted searches today, June 20, 2023, at six different locations throughout Kashmir in the Districts of Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Srinagar. The searches were done as part of an ongoing investigation into FIR No. 05/2023 from Police Station SIA/CIK, which is about the use of social media platforms for illegal and separatist actions, according to the SIA. The SIA filed the case against social media companies operating in India that worked with their foreign partners to “spread hatred against India and promote terror activities.” According to the statement, SIA officials searched early in the morning to find people and organisations that were spreading secessionist and anti-Indian sentiment on various social media platforms.The named entities are accused of working together with overseas allies to further their evil plans, which include encouraging and supporting terrorism. These organisations have also targeted government employees, making it difficult for them to carry out their legal obligations, according to the statement. Significant digital and physical evidence, including mobile phones and SIM cards, were found during the SIA searches. A thorough investigation and following legal actions will be ensured by the rigorous analysis of the evidence to establish a compelling case against the accused people and organisations, it said.
