BHUBANESWAR: India successfully test-fired the medium-range ballistic missile Agni-4 from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha on Thursday, the Ministry of Defence said.
The launch validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile system, according to an official statement.
The test was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command, which is responsible for managing the country’s strategic nuclear arsenal.
Agni-4 is a two-stage, surface-to-surface ballistic missile powered by solid-fuel rocket motors. It is capable of striking targets at a distance of up to 4,000 kilometres.
The latest test forms part of India’s continuing efforts to assess the reliability and operational readiness of its strategic missile systems.
Earlier this year, India had also successfully conducted trials of the Agni-Prime and Agni-3 ballistic missiles.
